United sign Michael McCabe

Manchester United have made their first splash out of the summer by signing
Irish goalkeeping sensation Michael McCabe for £3M. McCabe has been plying
his trade in the U.S. with the Metro Stars but scouts tipped off Sir Alex
Ferguson of his precocious talent and United swooped for the 18-year-old
straight away.

McCabe is expected to play second fiddle to Fabien Barthez, pushing Roy
Carroll down the pecking order. However, the new signing does not expect to
have to wait long: "Fabien is world-class in his position but I believe I
am just that little bit better - well one day!" Obviously a confident young
man!

Hmmm, I know that there's a quote, but nothing about him signing for United.

So could be a valid innocent quote which has been dramatized.

Anyway, with United having bought Roy Carrol for less, I doubt that this is true. Does Manutd.com confirm it?

Its not on Manutd.com yet. The site states "Will any of the other 27 players we've been linked with make it to Manchester? We'll be the first to let you know if they do..."

I couldn't even find a team called the Metro Stars...........and if there was such a keeper wouldn't he have been in the Irish World Cup squad? I recon it's the strangest story since Liverpool "signed" Didier Baptiste (an actor on Dream Team) does anyone remember that story?
