United face Everton at Old Trafford tonight. It should be an interesting evening as there should be some real youngsters on show. Report as usual.

Leg? I thought it was a groin problem. Good news for all the tasteless Manchester girls ;)

Yes it was a hernia operation!

Davis----Wallwork----Djordjic----Richardson

----Nardielo---Chadwick--------

Half Time Utd 1 Everton 0

We are very lucky to be up as Everton with a more experienced team have had most of the play. They have a 16 year old scouser Wayne Rooney at centre forward and he is rated very highly and has had a cracking half, May has played brilliantly to contain him. (Including one knee in the back as they contested a header, which brought tears to MY eyes!)
Chadwick has played well making long raking dribbles but his final pass like so many of the Red's efforts has been very poor. We have given the ball away too often. Williams in our goal looks a great prospect. He has saved two or three certain goals and he orders the defence about like Schmichael.
The goal came against the run of play after 24 minutes. A thru ball from Djordjic(Having another fine game in midfield) found Chadwick on the right wing and a very good cross near post was met by the charging Wallwork with a bullet header to give Simonsen in goal no chance.

on the bench: Tate Muirhead, Moran GK N Wood
Ref:Gary Mellor from Rotherham -doing well

Full Time United 2 Everton 1
Everton were well on top at the start of the second half. Rooney with electric pace needed May at his most experienced best. He gave Roche a torrid time and carsley should have scored from his centre. On 52 mins Everton nearly got the goal they deserved. Roche who had a shocking game was sloppy got disposessed Rooney hit a cracker saved by Williams at full stretch,Carsley took the resulting corner short to Pembridge who skied it over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
Nardielo and Davis are poor but are getting no service. United are playing thru the middle despite two fine wide players in Chadwick and Richardson. Their passing is very poor and they give the ball away every7 time. Chadders is particularly bad at this. Also he keeps coming inside rather than going for the line.
56 minutes A scrappy interlude in the United penalty area , we fail to clear the ball and Pembridge drives it home from 30 yards with Carsley jumping over it to fool Williams.
Score 1-1 and Everton desrve it. Lee Roche played everyone on side!
58 Rooney off with his back hurting. His youth team partner on (Symes)
61 minutes somewhat against the run of play United score! Nardielo gets the ball wide on the right holds it up well drags the full back around and centres. The ball deflects to Chadwick who heads it on to Davis who turns(a la Van Nistlerouy) and crashes it low into the net.
2-1

two minutes later another United attack , a centre from the left falls to David May at the back post He cracks it in and the ref gives him offside! I don't think he was especially as it glanced off the centre half's head on the way.

69 mins Carsley off( coming back from injury) Eaton
N Wood on for Richardson.
74.. Bizarre!!! The Everton goalie has pulled his side and has to come off but they have used all their subs. The centre half and capt Clark takes the green jersey. 14 mins to play with ten men.

The United passing is woeful! Chadders is giving the ball away every time. However we play the game out and final score 2-1. MOM by Crerand is Davis. For me Williams in goal and David may were far better.

We drew with Boro tonight 0-0.....it's getting tight.

That knee in the back he gave Rooney was "PURE CLASS"!
Really taught him a bit about PL footie.
However Rooney is a strapping big lad and he is a real find for Everton and a local lad at that!

Pool have missed out on this one.

He is big and brave like Shearer with Owens pace and footwork like George best.

A real prospect and still only 16!!!!!

The last two remaining Leeds United Reserve fixtures have been transferred from Bootham Crescent and will now be played at ELLAND ROAD.

The details are as follows:-

vs Manchester United, Thursday 25th April - kick off 7.00pm.

Just thought you might like to know.

Cheers Pat - good to hear Maysie is justifying his place in the team ! :D By the way Pat, I heard our Reserve games will be at OT for the remainder of the season, but what was the atmosphere like ? How many were in the stadium - surely we have the biggest reserve ground in the league ?
