I dunno about you lot but I found that bloody frustrating...

Imran(@Annihilate Now!) and Jamie(@Vault Dweller) discuss United's dismal 3-1 loss at the hands of Unai Emery's new look Aston Villa. They question the decision to start VDB, lament Ronaldo's continued inclusion in the side and criticise some real poor defending. They also touch on our Europa League progression before previewing upcoming games vs. Villa and Fulham

Was dropped because of his actions against spurs, came back against sheriff and has played 90 mins since then including captaining the team against Aston villa. That was really wrong in my opinion. We had options for captains! thanks @Jamie

Thanks!

Yeah, the captaincy being given to him was really wrong as I said and can only see it being done as a potential further indicator to the board that Ronaldo doesn't work in this team anymore, like a 'look I made this guy captain and he's still rubbish and contributing nothing' sort of thing. But that's a very long shot and it's a baffling decision.

A lot of things went wrong. Our depth is poor up front. Without Martial there is no one who can hold the ball.
I don't think anyone especially ETH expected DVB to be so terrible. He was a good player with Ajax and he has played decent whenever he played under Ole.
Casemiro should have covered the space vacated by Lindelof. Lindelof's fault was not doing anything for such a long time.
Some blame Lindelof for going there. I don't as in Dutch football he should have gone there while someone else covered his space.
As for our forwards the less said the better.
We urgently need a striker or two. We are also too naive in our playing.

The other options weren't great - Ten Hag said he doesnt like keeper as captain and too early for Martinez/Casemiro. I'm not sure why Luke Shaw is never mentioned as a captain option though - he's been around long enough to be worthy of the odd armband

Possibly ETH is also trying to galvanise Ronaldo into some kind of form since striker is clearly our biggest weakness at the moment

Rashford has captained both United and England in the past, so he’d be the obvious option as a one-off. Alternatively, just play Maguire over Lindelof, which must have been close to an 50-50 call, and avoid the issue completely. In no circumstances should Ronaldo have been captain.

Don't remember him captaining England but yes he's an option

Anyway I assume Maguire will be captain on Thursday and maybe Sunday too, if not then back to Bruno
