United - Birmingham

Today we played like a team, like only we can do it. Matches like this one show us that our players can play good football. They are able enough to play a fast football, changing their positions and moving all over the midfield, like Arsenal does it.
It was nice to see how the players tried to secure the possession of the ball, with horizontal passes. Playing with patience. Moving the ball across the field, and doing passes to players that are in the centre of the midfield, or to our defenders, when we can't advance to our rival's field because their players are pressing us, until we can get a good chance of goal.
Today, we had more than the 60 percent of the possession of the ball.
We should keep trying to play most of the matches like how we did it today. This is how we use to play the last time we were champions.
With the arrival of Veron and Van Nistelrooy, we changed our style of football. We started to play a vertical football. And that wasn't good, for our performances. We stopped playing like a team, we depended a lot of individual actions. And the only thing that the long passing did was to lose the ball quickly.

The attitude of the players today was great.

My english is bad, i'm sorry, i hope you can understand what i was trying to say.

Bye bye

Let's hope it stays that way! <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

you're spot on art vandelay, and your english is just perfect as far as i'm concerned.
i sat in east stand, tier 2 for the game against Brum. it was my 10th game this year, and we dominated the game like no other.
some of the interplay between veron, beckham, and to a lesser extent keane was superlative (you may have to look up this word, but it means 'very good'). veron has really blossomed in keane's and beckham's absence.
I was never a real fan of seba veron last season, but this year he's really started to play exceptionally well. he played a disguised pass along the line to ole in the deportivo game that was sensational, and yesterday made a centre with his right heel, a triple wall pass ending with a scholes header, and of course the outside-boot curler to becks - just a perfect pass - for becks sublime chipped goal. he's been our best player for the last 10-12 games, and probably now the best for the season as a whole.
whats the view about seba in argentina ??&gt;

I'm using some language tranlators. That helps me a lot :)

That word was easy, Lucius. Superlative translated to spanish is superlativo, with an O at the end of the word. But thanks anyway :) :)

Veron's performances of last season were very bad, but in some matches he did it well. When I listened the news of Veron coming to Old Trafford, i was a little worried. I never liked him too much. I always thought Veron wasn't the great player that a lot people thinks that he is. The only good thing I always recognized on him are his long, vertical (low or high) passes.
But he always played on defensive teams. Teams that doesn't do a lot of short passes. And the short passes were one of our better attributes.
I didn't think that he was the best player to add to our team, because his mentality was too much defensive. I thought he would slow down our style of football. And then we couldn't move the ball all over the field, and that was something that we used to do magnificently. Also Juan's accuracy to do short passes wasn't very good.

Argentina style in the last years was a vertical football, very vertiginous. That's why here he his considered as a great player. He didn't had to use his bad attributes.
I think that SAF maybe has seen Juan's good performances in Argentina's national team, and that's why he bring him to our team. And take note that we changed our style with the arrival of Veron. In that season we started to play a little like how Argentina used to play.
The performance of Juan in the World Cup was poor, and a lot of people were disappointed. Not me. In the WC, Veron played like how he played in his first season in the EPL. He missed a lot of passes, and he played without commitment. It seems that the people who thought that Veron was a great player, they did it only because he played well with Argentina. But Juan was different with United's team.
Fortunately, Veron has changed. Do you remember that when he came to Old Trafford he said that when he started to play in Italy, he had to wait some time until he can be accustomed to the Italian football, and that would happen again to him with the English football? Maybe he was right.
:) :) :)

I agree that Veron's performances has improved tremendously this season... and in the Birmingham game he was absolute class...worth 28.8 mil.. Hope he keeps it coming and also Becks and Fab

A few of the papers - and Ron Atkinson <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> says it's the best we've played all season!

welcome on board arty.
hope that veron keeps up the good play. ;)

i heard big ron say the Brum game was our best this season. in terms of a completely dominating performance, he was right (although we did give the blues 2 good chances at goal).
but the best performance I've seen at OT this year was the 1 - 0 win over Chelsea rent-boys in the League Cup. Mickey Silvestre (tweety) and Wes Brown were absolutely superb. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Really? i missed that match :( it's a shame. Actually, i don't have any possibility to see that matches, only the goals, because the english cups are not transmitted by any tv channel here. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

But is always nice to hear that we played well some other matches :)

In terms of a dominating performance, yes, that was e best game I've seen United play this season. But our finishing still has room for improvement, cos we wouldn't be able to play so well every game and have Barthez save us everytime. It would have been so unlucky if we had lost to the Brummies, but we could have.
