Manchester United and Real Madrid look set to lock horns again, this time over Columbian international Radamel Falcao.

The two clubs are already at loggerheads over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, but they look set to go head-to-head again for Falcao.

The 22-year-old striker currently plays his football with River Plate and is valued at around 13million euros.

Porto are also thought to be interested in sealing his signature.

I thought Falco died a few years ago, and was he any good at football anyway?

Never heard of him. If he signs for us he is a great young talent and people knew about him for a long time, if its bullshit and he does not he will never make it in the top flight.

Simple Caf logic.

I used to like that Amadeus song.

He's not a patch on the original Falcao. Loved his mental goal celebration against Italy, I think.(82)

that album has some gems on it, not just Rock Me Amadeus. ;)

truth be told I was disappointed that I was unable to cruise the streets with a large German flag and the strains of Falco's 'Vienna Calling' blasting out of my truck's windows yesterday, but Spain deserved their victory. It was made sweeter by the fact that they did it without Raul.

From Wikipedia:

He prefers to be called by his middle name, Falcao, though he is sometimes referred to by the nickname El Tigre. Falcao is a dynamic striker noted for his ability to finish with both feet, a strong burst of pace and his intensity of play. Falcao is a second generation footballer. His father, Radamel García, played professionally as a defender in Colombia. Falcao is named after the 1980s Brazilian and Roma legend Falcão. He is a devout Christian and leader of the church youth groups "Locos Por Jesus" and "Atletas de Cristo."

As somebody said earlier - he will end up at Porto - a modern launchpad for South American players who intend to play in Europe.

Looks pretty good, but youtube is a less than stellar source

Height is but a number, Chief. This lad is real threat in the air. Zamorano style.

My Dad says he's 5 ft 11, but shrinks to 4 ft 2 in cold weather

I watched him a good bit. He is a good player, a predator in the box. His record is good. It's a big step up though from the Argentinian League to the English Premier League. He could be good enough though but you can never be sure until they come over.

The fear would obviously be that he might take time to acclimatize, and as happened with Diego Forlan, the first few seasons may be littered with inconsistency, which could mean that we never get to see the best of him as players aren't usually given that long to impress.

I have to wonder why we don't sign someone like this, as well as another, more suitable player. There would be a lot less pressure if he was 4th choice, for the time being, as it is unlikely that we would need to rely on him to start in games that either Rooney or Tevez were rested or injured for. With the league being so tight these days its a lot to ask of a player that has just arrived after impressing in the Argentinian league.

According to Tim Vickery, Falcao is certainly the real deal, but I would be more confident if he had spent a couple of seasons in Portugal, to be honest.

ill admit i've rarely watched him play, and from the clips he seems like an excellent goalpoacher, but how is his link-up and hold-up play?

He would fit in well at Rio's Christmas parties, then.

I remember Falcao from the Brazilian 1982 WC team, I think he was a midfielder. Zico - Socrates - Falcao and some others, what a great team. I think that Brazilian '82 WC team was the best Brazil I've seen.

The boy has a lot to live up to.

Falcao’s agent has told setantasports.com during an exclusive interview that the Colombian star, linked to Manchester United and Aston Villa, would be delighted to play in The Premier League in the future.

The 22-year-old striker has impressed in the Argentinian league with River Plate, and his name has been linked with top English sides including The Red Devils and Martin O'Neill's Villa.

His agent, Nestore Omar Sivori, has refused to comment the identity of the clubs that have contacted him regarding Falcao, but declared that his client is keen on heading to England.

“I can only say that one of Falcao’s top aspirations is to be given the chance to feature in such an important competition as The Premier League, especially when we talk about those clubs," Sivori told setantasports.com.

“He’s still very young and is playing for a world class club, River Plate, but we calmly keep an eye on the eventual propositions that can change the future of his career.”

Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Colombian hot-shot.

'The ball is in a position to ensure that Manchester United have also entered the race and by Falcao, as has happened a few times, when transferring the Dragon Anderson to Old Trafford - the blue and white did not decline as 31.5 million offered by the average Brazilian - the Red Devils by a principle that excel threatens to be devastating for the competition: if Sir Alex Ferguson likes and wants, the club purchase without haggling or discussing values and avoiding wasting time on auctions.'
