could see the return of Ruud, in theory I would expect nothing less than 3 points, but Leicester will give us a go though.

Am gutted I missed out on getting tickets for this one, should be a good atmosphere.

Ok, as for the team, we cant take Leicester lightly, they also pose a big threat from set pieces which, in the past, has been our weakness - lets see if we've improved.

I think Bellion will probably start, not sure if Keano will be saved for Pompey. Hopefully Ronaldo will start but I doubt it.

Ruud should be back.

Leicester's Heath target upset :nono:

Leicester City central defender Matt Heath says the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United holds no fears for the struggling Foxes.

The 23-year-old has become a regular at the heart of the City defence in recent weeks and is looking forward to testing himself against the Red Devils.

He told the club's official website: "We have got to go there looking for the win. We have got nothing to lose and that will be the attitude we take on to the pitch.

"We have just got to go there with our heads held high. It is time for us to roll our sleeves up and fight for the win.

"We certainly won't be throwing the towel in. We are still only three points away from a number of teams, so we have just got to keep grinding.

"It looks as though we are going to need to get three or four more wins out of the last six games. That is a difficult task, but not one that is beyond us."

home game, no pressure, opposition sitting near the bottom of the table. last time i can remember us playing a game under these circumstances we beat derby 5-0. hopefully more of the same on tuesday

Van blow for United as Howard sets sights on reclaiming jersey
Mon 12 Apr, 1:56 PM

MANCHESTER (AFP) - Manchester United's hopes of overhauling Chelsea to clinch second place in the Premiership and automatic qualification for next season's Champions League have been hit by an extension of Ruud van Nistelrooy's injury lay-off.

The free-scoring Dutchman had been expected to return to the starting line-up in United's Premiership clash with Leicester here on Tuesday night after missing the the FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal and the weekend win at Birmingham with a knee injury.

But United's medics have decided the 26-goal striker cannot be risked, although they were hopeful he could be ready in time for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

Van Nistelrooy's continued absence means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is still feeling his way back to full match fitness after his return from a long-term knee injury, could start up front alongside Louis Saha against the relegation-threatened Foxes.

Ferguson has set his side the target of winning all seven of their remaining fixtures and he will be keen to see Saha and Solskjaer knock a few goals past Leicester to narrow Chelsea's advantage in terms of goal difference as well as points.

Skipper Roy Keane is also in line for a return on Tuesday night after missing the trip to Birmingham.

United are virtually assured of finishing in at least third place but only the top two sides go straight into the lucrative group stage of the Champions League. The teams finishing third and fourth must go through a qualifying round.

Leicester may be facing the ever-increasing likelihood of a return to the first division, but manager Micky Adams insists his side will be fired up by playing at United's famous ground.

"If you can't get excited about facing Manchester United at Old Trafford, you shouldn't be in the game. I am excited about it and so are the players."

Adams's side, who were left as odds-on favourites to go down along with Wolves after a home defeat by Fulham on Saturday, could be without veteran striker Les Ferdinand again.

The former England forward missed the 2-0 loss to Fulham and a knee injury means he remains doubtful for a clash with a United side that has returned to form recently after the blip which destroy the club's Premiership and Champions League campaigns.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard paid the price for United's exit from Europe by losing his place in the side to Roy Carroll.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said the American was being given a rest but Carroll's form since coming in has created uncertainty about who is now the number one at Old Trafford.

Got a ticket for this one

In the South Stand  :boring:

Still no Ruud and Fergie's reluctance to play Ronaldo means we'll probably start with Saha and (Gulp) Forlan (with Ole on the right).

How did Ruud get injured ? he completed the 90 minutes n the league game at highbury...then we haven't seen him playing ...is it the friendly game or he got injured in training ?

I wouldn't mind if Bellion was given a chance in the starting line up later on, he looks promising everytime he comes on, maybe keep Ronaldo on the bench just incase we need to get ourselves out of trouble, Ruud is injured so i'll go for this starting line up

Howard

G.Neville, Brown, Silvestre, O'Shea

Bellion, Keane, Scholes, Giggs

Ole Saha

Chelsea's dropped points should act as an incentive for us - being only 4 points behind with 2 games in hand gives us a real chance of getting 2nd place, and they still have to come to Old Trafford. Hopefully some goals to improve team spirit and goal difference, but a win is priority. Leicester will battle and will grow in confidence unless we score early. I'm looking forward to Djemba and Fletcher improving their understanding in the middle of the park and Ole, Giggs and Ronaldo running at Leicester.

4 points? i thought it was 6 points...their 71 to our 65..

Hope to see Howard at goal and Ronaldo to start.

Where is Kleberson?

Howard

G.Neville Brown Silvestre O'Shea

Ronaldo Keane Scholes Giggs

Solskjaer Saha

Let's hope Sir Alex doesn't do anything silly like playing Giggs as a support striker and Solskjaer as a winger (as he did on Saturday).

Not the first time. :(

I was baffled by the way we played in the 1st half at Birmingham. Fergie has a tendency to surprise us all but at this stage of the season and with no distractions we really should be playing our best team.

He has the tendency to play players in various positions except for the keepers and Ruud. But seeing that we have the chance to claim 2nd place, I hope we played our best team from now onwards.

I agree with that line-up, I don't think now is the right time to rest players especially when we are chasing 2nd spot.

Fergie wary of wounded Foxes

Sir Alex Ferguson believes beleaguered Leicester manager Micky Adams will have learned more in the last two months than he has done in the previous two seasons as Leicester manager.

Adams takes his team to Old Trafford desperately hoping for a win that would revive their hopes of avoiding relegation in a campaign that has been scarred by the controversial bonding break in La Manga that still weighs heavily on the East Midlands outfit.

The Foxes boss has won plenty of praise for the dignified way he handled the whole issue and Ferguson is among his admirers.

And even though the United boss is glad he has never had to deal with similar problems, he feels Adams will be a better manager as a result.

"Micky has faced some difficult situations over the last couple of months but he has probably learned more in that time than he did in his previous two years at the club," said Ferguson.

"You have to say he has done a terrific job. He has welded a really strong unit who are not afraid to attack.

"They scrap for everything, but that is only what you would expect from a team near the bottom.

"I feel they have a lot more than that. Their set-piece play is very good and so is their attitude. They are not afraid to have a go and we need to be wary of that."

With just one Old Trafford victory in the past 30 years and United starting to hit top form again after their damaging mid-season wobble, the odds on Leicester gaining the three points they so badly need from the encounter are slim.

Yet Ferguson has noted a clinicalness in the Foxes attack that even his side can't match.

After netting 26 times on their travels in the Premiership this season, Leicester are the third highest away scorers in the league, beating United by one.

So Ferguson is expecting the Red Devils' new-found defensive solidity to be tested fully, although the wily Scot is convinced Wes Brown, Mikael Silvestre and company will be up to the test.

"Attacking-wise, Leicester are a real handful," said Ferguson.

"I don't know how they lost against Fulham on Saturday and offensively they did really well against Leeds in the previous game.

"So, despite their league position, defensively we have a job to do and it won't be easy.

"The encouraging thing for me is that we are becoming far more sound in that area of our game.

"We have had a settled back four in recent weeks and the more they play together the better we become."

Ferguson will resist the temptation to rush top-scorer Ruud van Nistelrooy back after a two-game absence, preferring to let the prolific Dutchman have more time to recover from his knee injury in readiness for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

Skipper Roy Keane should return, while teenage winger Cristiano Ronaldo is also pushing for a starting berth following his explosive introduction off the substitutes' bench at Birmingham on Saturday.

Arsenal's four-point haul from their key Easter encounters with Liverpool and Newcastle has ended any lingering hope United had of retaining their Premiership title.

However, they are now in reach of second-placed Chelsea, who still have to visit Old Trafford on May 8.

And with an FA Cup Final appearance to come two weeks after the Londoners' visit, Ferguson is looking for his side to maintain the momentum built up by three wins and a Highbury draw from their last four outings.

"The main target is just for us to win our games," he said.

"We have an FA Cup Final on May 22 and we want to be bouncing into it rather than staggering to the Millennium Stadium."

I'd go:

---Gaz-------Brown--------Micky-----O'Shea---

------------Fletcher--------Keane--------------

---Ronaldo-----------Scholes-----------Giggs---

----------------------Saha---------------------

Howard
Phil
Djemba

However, I reckon Phil (or Butt) will play instead of Fletch.

After an hour he'll put them where they should be and we'll look remotely dangerous.

Bench:

keeper given well-earned rest
young french misfiring striker
out-of-form striker
frozen-out England international needing games to return to top form
young winger being used cleverly and carefully

I reckon, and hope, it'll be 4-0 to united, with goals as follows

Saha 23
Scholes 43
Giggs 67
Ronaldo 86

In the process netting me a fair amount of cash!

Come on!

Team wise, I reckon

Forlan up front and Bellion on the right is an insult to Solskjaer. Imo.

Bellion  - Butt - Scholes - Ronaldo
Forlan - Saha
