---------------------------GSTQ-------------------------------------------------SJOR

GSTQ TACTICS -

This tactical setup combines the high pressing, quick transitions, and counter-pressing of Klopp's teams with the possession-based play, build-up strategies, and intricate rotations of Guardiola's sides.

SJOR TACTICS -

Alisson Becker (Liverpool)

One of the foundations of Liverpool resurrection. Won PL, CL, FA Cup, Mickey Mouse Cup, FIFA Club World Cup while also being in numerous finals and breaking point records for a team that didnt win the league. With Brazil he won Copa America. Individual awards to many to even start but he pretty much won them all a one GK can win.

P. McGrath (Aston Villa)
One of the rare mistakes from Fergie, McGrath had a brilliant career at Aston Villa after Fergie let him go....won player of the club 4 times in a row, won PFA Players Player of the Year in 93 as well as being in Team of the Season for the same season.

F. Baresi (AC Milan)
One of the best defenders of all time.

J. Kohler (Dortmund)
All these hold even more weight as he did it as German Spurs - twice league winner and the CL winner with Dortmund! Was also a finalist of Uefa Cup on his last season. With Germany he won the Euro in 96 as well. Footballer of the year in 97 and twice in Kicker BL Team of the Season.

J. Angloma (Marseille)
Won the league and CL with Marseille while being in Euro Team of the Tournament for France in Euro 92

R. Jarni (Hajduk Split)
Best ever croatian leftback and pretty much the only period i personally rate in his career that went to shit or didnt went as it could have because of war and other various reasons.
In one of the best leagues in the world at the time he won the cup in 91 as well as doing great things at youth level of international football with the team winning Youth WC and being finalist in Euros 3 years later.

M. Essien (Lyon)
Spent 2 seasons at Lyon and won league in both, in second season he won player of the year as well as being in Team of the Season.

W. van Hanegem
Best midfielder of his country won 3 league titles with Feyenoord, one cup, one European Cup and one Uefa Cup as well as being second in WC 74 and third in Euro 76, he was also Dutch player of the year in 1971

Diego Maradona (Napoli)

Gerd Muller

Best striker that ever played the game.

Rivaldo (Palmeiras)
In his 3 seasons there he scored 55 goals in 86 games while winning the league in 94, Campeonato Paulista in 96 and being the finalist of Copa De Brasil in same season. In 94 he won Bola De Plata which is best player of Campeonato Brasileiro

will join the debate in the afternoon, just wanted to say the biggest game changer in this game is the goalkeeper.

Mine is one of if not the best keeper in the world while the other is Claudio Bravo. Not even peak Bravo who btw isnt a good keeper, its the young version against best striker of all time and Maradona...

I know keepers get ignored in drafts, no idea why as you almost cant have a great team without a proper keeper.

The irony, who did you have in R1 and QF, again?

Bravo is a good fit for possession-based teams.

You have the much better keeper of course both peak and club peak wise, I'll give you that.

yes i had a turd as well but opposition was in the same boat as me in both games

GSTQ's midfield is a thing of beauty and will dominate the game, just a matter of how he he handles the counter from Sjor's attack. Sjor has the better keeper but i don't rate Jarni (already discussed to death in the previous game) so a weakness on that side. Will follow discussions.

It will be defending through possession. Best way to limit Maradona's impact on the game? Don't let him have the ball.

I don't see a Van Hanegem - Essien midfield holding even 30% of possession against my midfield.

Even when they have the ball, just look at the pressing capability of that team. It's ridiculous. Can see us snatching the ball back in moments.

Can see Rivaldo and Muller being frustrated all game up top.

And its not even like the team is filled with midfielders and lacking on scorers.

Even keeping aside the wing forwards, Charlton/Gullit/Di Stefano are all great scorers. Heck even Rodri shoots great bullets from time to time.

With so much overwhelming amount of possession and scoring talent, can see this being a 3-1/4-1 sort of game with shots on target being something like 20 against 2

Essien played 2 seasons at Lyon.

In his final season at Lyon, Essien appeared in all but one league match as Lyon were crowned champions for the fourth straight season. The match he missed was as a result of a red card endured in the previous league match. Essien also scored three goals and collected 11 yellow cards, tied for second-worst in the league

I'd bet good money on the opposition being down to 10 men by half time.

Whilst Baresi definitely improves the team, wondering against this specific opponent Sjor might have been better off getting a conventional DM to sit in the hole, it just seems the midfield is overwhelmed esp with ADS being the type of player that will also drop back and join the scrap when they don't have the ball. Despite this i do think Sjor's team will score the fire power upfront is a bit much, it's whether it's enough as GSTQ team is likely to score too and have most of the ball.

this must be the dumbest thing i read in a draft game and feck me i read a lot of shit in the old days....

he got 1 red card in 2 seasons(i bet you would include the second season as well if it suited you) so he will be red carded by halftime in this game. sure...

What's the plan for Di Stefano @Šjor Bepo ? Baresi?

didnt change the gameplan from last game and dealing with cruyff - team is constructed to sit fairly deep(where baresi excelled for italy mostly) and soak up the pressure while taking every chance to hit the counter through various ways of attacking transitions.

to get back to di stefano, yeah id expect baresi to be fairly close to him while di stefano is in the final third, if he drops even further baresi wont follow.

to defend via possession you first of all need to have a possession based team and scrappy team is filled with players that excelled in more direct setup and apart from di stefano his offensive 5 doesnt really recycle possession.

Stoichkov and Rep are fine as in those roles you need to have direct players.
Gullit and Sir Bobby are briliant but both were very direct and their first thought was attack rather then keep the ball. in this roles i would buy Sir Bobby if next tp him was xavi/iniesta/silva type that would provide balance.
also, cannavaro snd young cafu dont fit the possession theme.

as for rodri, rate him insanely high at his peak BUT for me he was at his best in a midfield two(in city when stones mostly) was joining midfield and you even had Gundo as the classic 8 close by or with spain where Ruiz was almost as good as Rodri in thst Euro where Rodri dominated and deservedly won all awards. Its all too gung hoo for me, even the wingbacks are ubber attacking!

At least before there was a proper debate and meltdowns. This is a sad state of affair. Bepo, you piece of shit how do you see attacking potential of both teams?
