PROLIFIK TACTICS -

Back to the 4-2-2-2 as it’s the best way to maximise my front four. Eusébio and Albert form an unorthodox strike partnership, with Eusébio often drifting wide a la Henry, and Albert frequently dropping deep to hold the ball up and bring others into play. Cubillas plays as a traditional #10 and will sometimes make runs beyond the forwards to provide an additional goal threat, while Prosinečki is more of a deep-lying schemer. All four attackers can run at defenders, move off the ball, play the killer pass, or apply the finishing touch themselves, and their intelligence and creativity will make it difficult to gameplan against them.

Keita sits and protects the back four, with Thijssen playing a box-to-box role similar to Tigana in the magic square used by the 80s France team. Behind them, the aggressive Passarella and the more conservative Aldair are a perfectly complementary centre-back pairing, with Chilavert an imposing figure between the sticks. Srna is the more attack-minded of the full-backs, with the energetic Thijssen covering him on his sorties forward, while Cole is more balanced although still very capable on the overlap.

Ashley Cole winning just one Premier League with Chelsea will always be one of those facts about football that just don't sound right.
