UFC Undisputed

Think this will be on the market place later this week but from what I played of it last night my cock was well and truly rocked.

It's pretty much the fight night of UFC games. The demo comes with a tuition and an exhibition match (Shogun vs Liddell). There is an incredible depth to the control system (you'll need the tutorial believe me), the presentation is slick (right up to the traditional pre bout tale of the tape) and the graphics are fantastic (you can see when you've opened up a cut on your opponent a la Fight Night).

I guess I probably need to tweak the settings to a harder difficulty because I've ended all the matches with flash ko's so far (and one submission). But boy are they good. The physics of a ko'ed fighter are superb but even more satisfying is dropping them to the floor and then finishing them with a flurry of punches as the ref jumps in.

If you have a 360 and can't wait till later in the week for the demo then I suggest following the instructions found here -

My XBOX is on the 6-week mend to Texas sadly, so i'll have to play this at my girlfriends.

Apparently there's going to be downloadable content where a good majority of the fighters in the modern UFC will be a part, as well as legends from the originals.

Due on the marketplace on the 22nd I believe and I can't wait. The previews have all been pretty good, although like you say, the controls are supposed to be a bit complicated.

It's a lot to take in for sure but I think the pay off will be worth it.

I reckon they'd have been more complaints if they hadn't put as much of the technical stuff in. I'm pretty chuffed that they haven't dumbed it down for the casuals tbh.

THQ is a great studio for these kind of games.

Their wrestling titles for the N64 were legendary.

I'm disappointed by this threads blatant exclusion of the PS3, though.

Noted and edited accordingly. It was just gonna be about the demo which as far as I know is Xbox only but I see no reason why it can't just be about the game.

Agreed about the N64/THQ games. Many epic bouts were had on this beauty

until I came home drunk one night, wandered into my brothers bedroom and pissed in his draw.

Was that the one with AKI man? He was the greatest character...

Psychosis was good fun, too.

Much obliged for the edit. I hope they release a demo for PS3 this week, too.

lol @ Aki man.

The cruiserweight division was excellent in that game.

Ultimo Dragon & Pschosis vs Juventud Guerrera & Rey Mysterio.

Damn I wish I still had it now :(

That was always a brilliant match up.

I loved wailing on people with those AKI punches.

I really hope the timing element from that game is part of this UFC game.

My word, I can't wait for the full version. Gotten quite used to the controls now, it's immense. Has anyone gotten Shogun/Liddell into the 3rd round? I'm playing on experienced and i think its impossible.

One thing I hope is, not all the fights are like this. It's to be expected that Liddell and Shogun probably wouldn't (and didnt) even make it to the second round, but I'm hoping if I'm doing GSP vs Penn, it goes quite long.

I'm trying to get used to all the controls before dipping my toes into expert.

I was knocked down by Liddell the other night and as he came in to finish me I managed to pull off a heelhook from the turtle position. It was textbook.

Not had a fight go to a decision yet either myself although I know people have.

So I upped the difficulty on this last night and I see what you mean. You really have to work for the win.

I spent most of the fight as Chuck stuffing Shoguns takedown attempts as every time he got me to the ground I was toast.

Scored a great flash knockout with a knee as he ducked in though.

Im pretty shite on the ground. Still haven't made anyone tap out, and as soon as I get mounted I just get hammer fisted to feck. :(

When is the full game out? I must check out the demo tonight, read a pretty good review a couple of weeks ago. But by the reviewers admission he didn't follow the sport, so when it came to fighting on the ground he didn't know what to do. And this is the big thing i worried about, no point making a UFC game if your gonna just end up fighting stand up. The wrestling and ju jitsu needs to work aswell

May 22nd. Can't wait to be honest.

What's the first fight you lot gonna do? GSP v Anderson Silva for me.

Still can't bring a fight to a decision, it's beginning to piss me off to be honest. Hopefully the decisions are more common when fighting with the 155 guys.

Turned the difficulty up

lost the first 2 matches
Won the third by KO
Won the fourth by TKO in 32 seconds

Was brilliant, never stopped landing punches and headkicks

I'm off work with a bad back so I've been playing it most the day (if it weren't for my bad back I'd be doing it for real with randomers in the street 'cause I'm well hard).

It's good fun and very addictive (especially on experienced). I was terrible whenever the fight went to the ground at the beginning but I'm getting better and better now, although I still haven't submitted anyone. If anyone else is having similar problems on the ground, keep playing and things will gradually get better.

I just downloaded the PS3 demo and i think it's pretty sweet.

Something sickly satisfying about knocking the feck out of someone

I played a few games and won one of my first fights with a brutal skull crushing headkick in about 30 seconds. Didn't let up just went windmilling in then caught him off guard :D

Awesome, I'm going to see if it's available when I get home.

Surely this will only end up like shite games such as Smackdown. There are so many moves and countermoves in MMA that they could never incorporate so much into a game. Surely not?

I've worked my way up to being comfortable playing on advanced now with either fighter. It seems to get more realistic as you work your way up the difficulty settings - you have to consider your tactics for the fight a lot more so the fight ends up being played out in a more similar fashion to how it would in reality*). I still can't win by submission though, which seems to be a common cause for concern amongst those playing the demo.

*or rather how it would before Chuck went into free fall.

this game is awsome.

me and a mate had some brilliant fights that almost went the distance yesterday, including a whole round spent on the floor jockying for position.

intense.

I found it a little to easy to get knock out victories.

Maybe it's just my fighting style?

Same. I'm just hoping thats because we're fighting with two guys who have unreal punching power. Like I said before, I hope if we're fighting GSP vs BJ Penn, knockouts will be less common.

I can't download this as don't have GOLD membership on LIVE.

Can anyone sort me out with a code please?

Mental that people with Xboxes are expected to pay money to get demos. The games companies must be well pissed off. The whole point of demos is that they're free and readily distributed to as large an audience as possible.

they arent, demo's are timed exclusive, will be up for Silver members a week later
