So, we are missing Demi Mitchell, Marcus Rashford and by the look of things Axel Tuanzebe. If we ignore Demi who is missing from the start of the tournament we were terrible even with this 2 so i cant see how we can get anything from the game. Our defensive game is terrible and our attacking play is even worse then it is in the first team. Cant say that i look forward to the game....

Mitchell is a big loss for this campaign. Good to see Rashford back in the squad at least. The defence there still looks strong.

MUTV again not showing the game....whats the point of club television if they are not showing youth games? Embarrassing.

Too close to the senior game.

i dont understand how is that relevant, is not that they broadcast the senior game or the game wont be finished before the first team starts...its a bullshit excuse imo

Tuanzebe is playing? Hopefully Jones is out of the red zone.

Well, if the OP is anything to go by, luckily you don't need to watch games to form cocksure opinions on them.

Based on very limited highlights and stats from the PSV game, the result flattered us. But even with all the luck in the world you don't win 3-0 in Eindhoven by being as shit as you're suggesting. Wolfsburg are a very strong side and while we didn't impress, we were the better team for large spells in either half and just about deserved our point. Then there's the CSKA game, which - again based on limited HLs - seemed like the antithesis of the PSV game in that we certainly didn't deserve such a heavy defeat. It obviously wasn't a good performance but when your only recognized striker is injured and the ref keeps giving the oppo cheap penalties, you're always gonna struggle. Even with a weakened attack we created a few chances and were unlucky not to score.

Rational criticism is fine, mate, and this team deserves its fair share of it. But in this forum we generally try to keep the hyperbole to a bare minimum.

what did this rant have to do with anything the OP said?

well, my opinion isnt based only on performances in this tournament. Like you said, we played 3 games and could watch only one so its difficult to have a firm opinion without watching games but lets take first game as example. We didnt watch it, United won 3:0 away and on paper this looks brilliant but then you watch the highlights and you see what happend. We scored 3 counter-attacking goals which is great BUT we defended terrible as they created more then 10 good chances and its only luck or their lack of quality that won us the game. We didnt conceded but that had nothing to do with quality of our defending.
Wolfsburg was the game we could watch and they were the much better team, taking into account what i saw in first 2 games i assume the Moscow results was a fair one. That game i didnt even watch the highlights so i could be wrong.

I understand why we struggle. We have a pretty unbalanced squad, the team isnt playing together as this is the mix of U18 and U21 squad and both this teams have serious lack of games this season, we are missing one of if not the best player in the squad from day one but lets not lie ourselves, if we look only what we produced on the pitch and ignore why we played like we did, the performances on this tournament are pretty terrible so far. On top of all that prior to this game i thought Tuanzebe would be involved with the first team and that Rashford was still injured. So thats our best defender and best attacking player out of the game and we struggled even with them on the pitch.

based on stats, it looks we are bossing the game so its a shame we are not winning.....but at least we are dominating the game so its a step in the right direction.

Not surprising. We have almost a full squad this time at home.

If your opinion isn't based on this tournament then what you said about the defensive game being terrible makes less sense since we had the best defence in the country last year with this set of players. We have only allowed 1 shot on goal of any kind in todays game which isn't too bad for a supposedly terrible defence which suggests that unsurprisingly the 4-0 game against CSKA was the exception rather than the norm and is the type of freak result that often happens at underage level especially when the refereeing is as bad as it was in that game

How is Gribbin doing? Isn't he supposed to be the most talented of the young attackers?

it was more comment in general to say im not criticizing team based on one game and to say that i understand why we struggle. And i only criticized the performances in this tournament and not the quality of the players as there are few players in there that i rate and like.

1. My point exactly.

2. Where do you get that number from? If memory serves, the highlights showed them creating probably around half that. Am I right in thinking it's an assumption based on shot-stats? If so; pointless.

3. So, basically, you concluded that this team's attack is less potent than the first-team's (relatively speaking, I presume) based on two very tough games in which we scored 4 goals?

2. the number is irrelevant, i made it up as im lazy and dont want to search for the highlights video and count the chances. The fact is, they dominated the game and they created much more chances then we did so we were lucky that their finishing on the day was terrible. The assumption is not based on shoot stats, its based on highlights video where i saw PSV missing chance after chance.

3. No, my conclusion is based on watching this team play for 2 years now, its based on the fact that both PSV and Wolfsburg dominated the game against us(and quite possibly CSKA in the first game but im not sure about that one as i didnt watch anything) and its based on my opinion about this team problems(unbalanced squad, lack of quality in certain areas(attacking ones) due to injuries of important players) and problems for english(again, im making an assumption that all team struggle with lack of games as we do) teams in general.

I agree, if you mean that the team can be criticized for what it lacks, rather than actually criticizing the players that are in the team. The point about toning down the vitriol that, rightly or wrongly, gets directed at the senior team, when it comes to Academy players is very important I think. Not saying the OP did that, but it was a very negative intro to the game and there's just no need for that at this level, because you can usually always take something positive out of watching these games.

Wait.. Did you just get caught making shit up, then nonchalantly proceed to call it irrelevant as if you didn't use said shit to support one of your cocksure opinions? Respect, bro. It's also rather confusing that you're so specifically referencing this tournament in your first post if your views are indeed based on the last two years. Even so, it doesn't make calling this, that and the other 'terrible' any less hyperbolic, which is a shame as you do make some valid points in your subsequent attempts to clarify.

ffs i thought it was bloody obvious that i just put a random high number to underline their dominance in that game. Its like when Rooney has a terrible game and we call him a pub player, nobody actually thinks he is a fecking pub player but when you call him like that you stress out how poorly he is playing compare to other players on that elite level.

That's a shit analogy and you know it. 'A million chances' and it would've been apt, but not some completely realistic number, you weirdo.
