Two wins and a draw from 3 matches. Win against Benfica and our youngster have a great chance to go in next round. Any news on Gomes? Will he be available to today's game?

Doubt it. He probably got back yesterday, if he has.

Is Chris Willock playing for Benfica? I remember he moved there from Arsenal in the summer. Might be too old though.

Benfica score 1-1.

Pretty impressive btw that James Garner starts today. Still only 16 and has been very impressive for the U18 this season(whenever he has gotten the chance).

Almost forgotten about Laird who's the youngest in the starting XI.

They just literally won the U17 playing the most attractive football.
Which is the 1st time since decades, where they have a generational pool of outstanding talents. Lets see if that can turn into something consistent in English football or it's a one out. These talents fit modern football way better than previous English talents, will be interesting.

Not a surprise we are matching them with Gomes in our team.

Disappointing how bad the team is on the ball. Not comfortable enough to pass their way out of the back or to build attacks. And when on the attack, too much panic that immediately gives away the ball. Clear difference from Gomes and his teammates. I mean Gomes is better, but the others have got to do a better job.

Unfortunately we have some better players who weren't available today.

This isn't really anything new though is it? I think its just become clearer in peoples heads after watching how good the England U17s team are. Puigmal and O'COnnor should improve us though IMO and take us up a level.

Very poor today imo. Not sure why sang gets so much game time,he's never going to make it here.

Watching some of the highlights is hard to understand how Benfica is in third place atm.

This thread reads like we've lost. The game finished 1-1 and we're still top of the table with 8 points, for those that don't know.

Hopefully not for me, I was only saying watching Benfica in the last 2 matches is difficult to understand their current position, because I know relatively well the individual quality they have in all age groups.

No, just all the comments I thought might lead to a false impression regarding the result as it hadn't been posted yet. I don't disagree though, on the whole - they were definitely better than us.

Are dj buffonge and callum gribbin(when fit) young enough to play in this? Or would they of had to be named as overage players.
