The Official UEFA site are taking votes for their team and coach of the season. Unfortunately only Rio and Ruud have been nominated in their respective positions! For some reason Riise was nominated for left back and Mickey wasn't, but thats life! Anyway here's the link for those of you who'd like to try ensure there is at least some United representation in the team, and even if you wouldnt, vote anwyay!UEFA.com: Team of the Year 2002

I've voted for:

Kahn

Cafu
Fedrinand
Hierro
Riise

Schneider
Vieira
Aimar
Valeron

Henry
Ruudy

Boss: Topmoller

Anyone else?

Khan

Cafu, ferdy, Ayala, R.carlos

Joaquin, Baraja, Aimair, Valeron

Ruud, Henry

World class every where.

Baraja is in there because he is more creative than Viera

But i got to admit the choices were limiting.

Coach should be Hiddink.
If you can make it with 22 Koreans to the semi-final...
(Think about where PSV will be next year. I think the cup with the big ears will be in Eindhoven again :D )

Casillas
Puyol
Ferdinand
Nesta
Roberto Carlos
Joaquin
Ballack
Zidane
Duff
Ruud
Ronaldo

Coach: Toppmoller

I went for:

--------------Kahn------------
Torres---Hyypia--Chivu---Riise
Joaquin----Ballack----Valeron
-----------Rosicky------------
------Van Niz----Henry--------

Toppmoller

Did you not watch the world cup? He was absolutely phenomenal. He was probably the most exciting wing-man in the World Cup. Beat his man every time (except in extra time against Spain when he was knackered - if only he'd been at Utd he'd have been fit enough to get us through).

Btw, he'll probably get in the team as there is an Irish email campaign starting to get him in there :)

ha.there's only 2 Man Utd players 'n' for Real Madrid/Arsenal/Liverpool(and so on) there are more than that!!!!!!!
juz can't believe that Becks 'n' Scholes's not in!!!

Right midfield category with no Brcks in it, Rivaldo as a striker?, fecking ridiculous.
No votes from me.

Canizares

didn't vote - hyypia - ferdinand - carlos

ljungberg - viera - zidane - can't remember

henry - ruud

___

Couldn't be arsed to take players from the inferior leagues like Italy, Holland etc as these players do not play quality opposition often enough and the italian teams didn't even participate in the CL for long.

My vote is:

Kahn

Puyol - Ayala - Lucio - Roberto Carlos

Seedorf - Ballack - Aimar - Valeron

Ruud - Hernan Crespo

There are a couple of thngs to remember when voting for the team. This is a UEFA poll and not FIFA. World Cup performances should not be taken into account. Hence my choice of Lucio ahead of Rio. Also this is the 2002 vote so it cover the second half of last season and the first half of this. Hence my choice of Crespo ahead of Henry.

Was really suprised not to see Seba's name in the attacking Midfielders list. His Champions League
performances have been outstanding.

Kahn, Cafu, Nesta, Hypia (ashamed to say it), Carlos, Schneider, Ballack, Aimar, Ze Roberto, Henry, Van Nistelrooy, Topmoeller.

Disgusted that Ronaldo was nominated when injured for 3 months of the year. Last award he won (and if he gets in this eleven) was be based on one month in June, not the twelve that your supposed to perform in. Great performance in the World Cup and the goal tally he got, but is that what we base a nomination on.

I guess so. How else can you explain Rio's entry into the list. Hate to say it but apart from the world cup he hasn't looked anything like a £30million defender.

Vote:
Kahn-Puyol-Lucio-Hyypia-Placente-Ljungberg-Viera(Ballack)-Zidane-Duff-Henry-RVN

Why is Valeron on the left so many times? He's a CM!

Kahn
Cafu, Lucio, Hyypia (dammit), R.Carlos
Pires, Ballack, Viera, Zidane
Ronaldo, RVN

Coach: Topmoller

I wonder, as far as those who voted Cafu, how many times have they seen him playing during the 2002 year.

I voted for:

Buffon

Puyol
Rio
Ayala
Carlos

Seedorf
Viera
Zidane
Valeron

Henry
Ruud

Coach: Rafael Benitez

I am surprised that the impressive Turks, Davala and Sas have not gotten more votes. They were both truly outstanding at the world cup. I will have to agree, though, I have not followed them much at club level in Turkey and in Europe. Is that why they were not considered?

Kahn
Thuram - Nesta - Rio - Maldini
Seedorf - Ballack - Zidane - Sas
Raul - Ruud
