* - In 2016 prior to the Euro's Tournament, UEFA published, based on votes cast on twitter and EURO2016.com, an All-time Euro XI. To be chosen plyers had to meet at least two of the following criteria: Reached a Euro's Semifinal; Chosen in a Team of the Tournament; Finished as Top Goalscorer; Produced an iconic Euro moment

Wait, Walker got included in this year’s team of the tournament?

@Himannv Sell me Raul here. He looks out of place in an otherwise excellent setup
I think in a 4-3-3 his best position is on the right where his natural left foot comes into play.

In my view he's a very versatile player and is generally a bit of a roamer. He'd normally be SS in a 4-4-2 but in a 4-3-3 with a false 9 he's all set to attack the box a bit and also switch positions all along that front line since this is a total football setup. He's great off the ball and great on it as well so I see him as a good fit for the tactic and that position. I don't like to tie him down to a no 9 position here and I think RWF with freedom to roam and also arrive in the box is the best option for this tactic.

The main reason I picked him though is more simpler. Euro 2000 was one of my favorite tournaments and he was my favorite player in that tournament and for a few years after as well. He even had a Baggio-style penalty miss. I supported that Spain team with Raul, Lucha, Mendieta, etc. He was electric that tournament, popping up with a few goals but also his all round play was excellent.

and carvajal was brilliant
Yeah, it should've been either Carvajal, who had a stellar tournament or Kimmich, who was very influential for Germany (but probably Carvajal). Walker was non-existent attacking-wise and uncharacteristically questionable defensively.

That's understandable. I suppose my major concern is how many off the ball runs he would make. I remember him liking dropping deep more and being a part of the build up. In a 433 my immediate thought is False 9 for Raul.

In 2000, did Spain play 4231 with Valeron as 10 and Raul as 9?

brilliant side from hman, only thing i dislike is dijk baresi partnership but mike has his issues(main one khedira playing role that doesnt suit him) so total football gets the vote

Aye, weird one. Walker really struggled in the first four games, both offensively when he had time on the ball when he looked like a league 2 player compared to Trent, and defensively, particularly against Slovakia.

I thought there were several top LB performers and most of them were better than the RBs.

Spain mostly played 4-4-2. He likes dropping deep but I feel he's not a false 9 because his game isn't about positioning. His movement off the ball is quite good and he's generally not a player who needs the ball at his feet to be effective. He moves into goal scoring positions when he knows there's a chance to score but otherwise he's a roamer..
