Under-23s: #MUFC v Southampton (A) - Kovar; Tanner, Poole, R. Williams, O'Connor; Garner, Hamilton, Buffonge; Gomes, Bohui, Chong. Substitutes: Carney, Warren, Barlow, Sang, Whelan. The game kicks off at 19:00 BST and is live on #MUTV

Can't actually find a stream to watch though.

Still 0-0 35 minutes in.

Penalty to United, terrible tackle from the Southampton defender.

edit: DJ wins the penalty and scores it. 1-0 to United

Terrible tackle on Chong by a Southampton player, rightly gets his 2nd yellow and gets sent off.

I think he has looked the obvious weak link in the 3 games so far, and Bohui. Biggest one is Sbragia though, absolute dog shit.

Buffonge been the best player in all 3.
To be honest I’ve never particularly rated Bohui that highly, I didn’t see much of him when he was younger but in the U23 set up I’ve been very unimpressed with him.

Ahh, Buffonge. I'm surprised. Obviously must have not been good enough last season considering the great one Sbragia benched him all last season.

He was doing a lot of gym work to help him actually be able to get through a run of games without getting injured repeatedly, the same happened with Mitchell a couple of years ago

Highlights from the game.

It was painful viewing compounded by the awful camera work at Southampton.

It was, there was just no urgency, they were there for the taking when they went down to 10, though not having a winger/forward on the bench didn't help.

Don't know about the camera work but having two goals at one end confused the crap out of me

Ive taken more of an interest in the 23s this season (the dross with the first team a main reason) and that seems very harsh. Great ball for the Gomes goal in the first game, one of the better performers against Villa (including another assist) and he was solid the majority of the game on Friday. It looked like he wasnt getting much protection from other players and he was left 1-on-1 with that winger.

Barring the cross he barely left our half against Fulham and Fulham's resurgence in the second half was almost solely from them taking him on and he was having loads of trouble with their LW. He's looked average in the next two.

I didn't even mean he is bad, just the weakest of the bunch. He is clearly not close to the level of Gomes, Chong, or O'Connor. And DJ, Garner, Hamilton, RoShaun, Poole and Gribbin are all easily a tier above as well. He's a decent player but along with Bohui he is near the weakest in the lineup. Which is good because he is better than some of the dross making up the numbers in recent years.
