Olosunde is awful.

Fantastic penalty save from Periera!

Never nice to single out young players but how the feck him, Redmond, McTominay, El fitouri (plus arguably a couple others) are still playing regularly for Manchester United at this level is a complete mystery. In previous years players with much more ability couldn't even get into the side. The amount of shite in the team disadvantages the more talented attacking players. Harrop, among st others, doesn't get any help in terms of link up/creativity.

McTominay is the worst striker i've ever seen at United at his level. So out of his depth its unbelievable and no wonder we very rarely score any goals.

Anyway thats the last of the moaning I swear.

Maybe that's because he's not a striker, but what do I know? Olosunde has had less than a year in English football after coming from American standard youth football and the nonsense has already started from you lot. At least Butt sees something in him to allow Reid to leave, thankfully. You lot need to put things into perspective and remember this has been a disjointed team with even younger players, players out of position, instead of complaining.

Anyway, that's the last of my moaning.

I do feel for McTominay because he's just been shunted up top. Infact, I don't even know what his natural position is.

Its shambolic that the U23s have gone the whole season so far without a proper striker up top. I don't know who has allowed this to happen. I'd rather we just play that Diedrick-Roberts up there or sign one on loan like we did with Kellett not too long ago.

The U21s have been so boring to watch for the last few seasons. Hopefully Gribbin can make it a bit more fun to watch.

Haha I love a good monday night moan up. Not sure 'you lot' is fair as its only really me criticising. Anyway I hope your right but I honestly dont see anything from any of those lads to suggest you will.

Not a terrible half but still so poor going forward. Gribbin and Kehinde with afew nice pieces of link up play. Scott has done ok as well.

You're funny. Roberts can't even get a game or get on the bench for the u18s and has been on loan to Bournemouth, but you want him to start for the u23s? There have been problems with the squad, no doubt, but at least be logical with the things you say.

Also regarding Mctominay, I can see why he 's being used as target man, but if that isn't his natural position then where is? Because I dont think he has the ability to play anywhere else either.

I say "you lot" as its not uncommon for there to be moaning in this forum when things don't go well or players are playing that aren't good enough. It's not their fault they're playing , is it? If people want to moan at young players etc, should go and support City. There's more than enough talent in that team, but they've hardly played together and the team isn't at it's best overall, this year, I agree.

Don't be so defensive. As I said I don't like to single out young players and rarely ever do it but these are old enough now and its been that obvious this year that at some point you've got to call a spade a spade. I've been watching Redmond and Mctominay for nearly 5 years and haven't said anything before but feel i've seen enough at this stage to give an opinion thats all.

Mitchell wins a pen then scores it. United have been good this half and deserve to be at least level.

Only caught the 2nd half and I found it to be an enjoyable game. I thought Mitchell was brilliant and enjoyed seeing Harrop and Gribbin, too. Shame about Bailly's injury - hopefully it's nothing bad and just came off as a precaution. Evertons #14 was too much to handle.

Uncle Joe's mint balls, though.

I know he's been doing well, but why on earth have we turned Mitchell into a defender? Especially when the team is so shite going forward.

Centre midfielder is probably his best position, he's a very good tackler and I think the team would have a bit more balance to it if he was playing there and using his physical presence rather than Redmond playing as a guaranteed starter even though he's barely put in a performance all season.

There has been a lot of changes in the Academy as everyone knows.

Three managerial changes in three years affects this level of footballer more than any other as every manager has different ideas about what 'potential' might look like.

A few facts to correct some of the points above.

1. McTominay is not a striker but playing up front because we have no-one else. We tried Redmond earlier in that position too. There is no point going out and buying a forward just to win a few U/23 games...there has to be logic and strategy behind it.
2. Olosunde isn't a fullback but is playing there. He made a few errors in first ten minutes but was great going forward. Nice to have a balanced view eh?
3. Tyler Reid wasn't 'allowed' to go. We wanted to keep him but he felt he would get more chances somewhere else. The player made the decision.
4. The team is very imbalanced with very few options...
5. As with most teams, many of the players won't make it at United, but there will be one or two that will use this as a platform.

We have been incredibly successful over the last 5 years at this level. One poor first half of the season should be looked at in perspective.

Finally, I don't follow the junior sides because I expect them to win all the time.

I agree with this, it's hard to blame the players or the manager for the some of issues we've had this season. We've been getting by this season with improvisation after losing a lot of the older reserve players.

The squad isn't deep enough in every position and we have to play players like McTominay upfront. His natural position is as a DM I think, but he's been played up front and he's giving it his best shot. He's been pretty decent up there all things considered, don't expect him to be a Will Keane/James Wilson/Kiko Macheda and keep scoring goals for fun at this level.

It might be a few more years before we have a balanced and deep squad at both academy and Res level.

It will be much better next year when we have the likes of Buffonge, Bohui, Dearnley, Boonen etc hopefully break into the XI. Though if it were me I would bench a couple from the XI and promote a couple U18s ahead of schedule, sacrifice this season's league results for a more balanced XI. There's no way the lads can develop tactically whilst playing in such an unbalanced line-up. I see no progress from the likes of Harrop, Redmond, Willock in all honesty.

To address point 1 getting a forward wouldn't just help win a few u23 games. Having such an unbalanced squad means other players development can be affected by playing out of position. Also It hinders other players in the team, for instance the number ten or the wingers, if they don't have a proper forward to play with then it changes how they can play the game as they have to adapt to the inefficiencies of the player playing there.

I don't even think it would sacrifice results. The u18 players are simply better, even currently. Hamilton isn't even one of the best or a regular starter for the u18s but he was one of the best players in all his u23s matches.

I agree with that too. How is someone like harrop meant to develop when he can't even play properly. His whole game is being creative but there is no one to create for and barely anyone even in front of him half the time.
