U21s: United vs Fulham

Done. Good job with all of these threads and updates. :)

Looking forward to seeing Heaven (most sentences sound like a song lyric or film title with his name!)

And as you say Thwaites and Munro at U21 level. And Scanlon. And Kamason and Biancheri as well if they come on from the bench.

Only Heaven (and Fredricson amongst the subs) from yesterday's matchday squad involved tonight, so a shame not to get to see the likes of Obi, Kone, Moorhouse, Amass... but they'd have all obviously benefited a lot more from yesterday's experience than from than another random U21 game.

Probably need some of them for Saturday so can understand them not playing tonight and training with the first team instead.

Yeah I'm afraid they can't take many risks with them. That being said some of them might play tomorrow with the U18s. They need match practice too.

I know we've not got as much attacking threat out as some games (combination of some key options either being on the bench for the first team yesterday, or saved for the U18s tomorrow) - but we seem quite reluctant to shoot.

Sometimes that's been when a right footer cutting on from the right presumably doesn't trust their left foot enough. But even when right footers cutting in from the left side onto their right foot, or when we've got it in the middle of the pitch around 20 yards out, we seem to passing on the responsiblity rather than taking a shot.

Shocking defending by Munro and Heaven there, lucky we weren’t punished

To be fair Fulham are getting a lot of bodies in front of those shooting angles.

Looks like Kone has been promoted permanently to the first team squad then for the time being.

If Sharpe was just a touch better technically he’d be a great player

Just a few occurrences in this game where he seems to lack natural instincts. I see the need for progressive centre backs on the ball, but he looks like he has a long way to go to nail down the defensive side of the game.

Haven’t seen many personally. Hasn’t played a minute since mid December so it could be down to rustiness anyway.

Not many chances or entertainment but in terms of mistakes from either side it’s been a decent game so far. Good techical level from both teams.

Just modern day football unfortunately. Slow, sideways, safe football from both teams. Players not expressing themselves at all. Shame when you see young players having to stifle themselves.
