U21s: United vs FC Nordsjælland

Notable players who've been in the FC Nordsjælland academy in recent times: Mikkel Damsgaard, Andreas Skov Olsen, Simon Adingra, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Mohammed Kudus, Morten Hjulmand, Patrick Dorgu, Conrad Harder and Andreas Schjelderup off the top of my head.

They generally have good youth teams.

Fulham 3 +4 7
Nordsjælland 2 +3 6
Sparta 4 +1 6
Norwich 3 +1 6
PSV 4 +2 5
Hertha 3 -1 4
United 3 -2 2
Liverpool 4 -8 0

No Gore, Wheatley and Fredricson. Fredricson probably due to rotation as usual, whilst Gore and Wheatley should be close to their loan moves.

Shocking defending by.. is that Kukonki? Don't know exactly but tap in for the Danes.

If Nordsjælland has a U21 team like they often have, they will beat many bigger u21-teams in Europe. Would not to surprised to see us struggle here.

Obi-Martin just hit underside of crossbar with a peach of a shot.

Shouldn’t these lads be playing the same formation as the first team? Really sums up the chaos at our club that anyone who gets to train/play with the first team has to play a different system to the one they’re playing tonight.

Amorim says no. I would imagine hr'd need to coach the coaches and time is short. It's not just as simple as the starting formation.

Maybe next season.

Our players always seem to have to take two touches, technically inferior to this team.

When you see games like these, you understand how far our youngster are from the first-team

Yeah, but who from this team is touted as being 1st team potential, I'd say only Kone, Chido, Amass and they been probably the best players tonight. The rest is about par for what you'd expect.

Game intelligence seems to be lacking, not knowing when to press, close off angles, especially from the defenders and midfielders.

But these are things they were collectively very good at U18s level. All these players were part of a very dominant U18s. The constant rotation of the starting 11 and maybe worse coaching from Binion probably play a bigger part.

Not sure lack of game intelligence is the correct wording. We just seem disorganized as a team. The difference when they put pressure on us is night and day. It feels like we are not working that hard on these team things.

First of all - our main problem is that we suck at pressing. Look at when our players get the ball - 1 player is pressing immediately. When they get the ball - our players are nowhere near the opposition. Chido lets their centre-half run past him and take the ball into midfield

And on a fairly poor pitch - with hard-pressing opposition, someone thinks it's a good idea to play out from the back.

Could be the case, they are taking too many touches.

Wonder if it is a choice the club makes. To focus on individual development rather then being well organized as a team.
