U21s: United vs. Chelsea

Does MUTV usually rerun u21 games? I'll have to give this one a miss..

Chelsea team - Beeney; Ssewankambo, Christensen, Davey, Aké (c); Baker, Swift, Boga; Kiwomya, Mitchell, Brown.

Boga is a very tricky, skillful player. One to watch.

Van Ginkel is on the bench for us, just coming back from his ACL injury.

How's Christensen rated these days?

He's always looked very good whenever I've seen him. He's still very young (17) but has trained with the first team a fair bit and even made the bench a couple of times, si I think the clubs rates him very highly.
Yeah alright. He's always spoken highly of in Denmark but it's nice to hear from someone who's actually seen him play.

I watched all of this, was pretty boring. Your right back looked a threat going forward but there was honestly no real stand out performers from United (goalie made a few decent saves, nothing amazing).

What I saw of the game, Chelsea were bigger, faster, stronger, more skillful and younger than our team. I know we were missing a lot of players and had some playing out of position but it didn't fill me with a lot of hope. Credit to the boys though that they defended really well, and got a decent point out of it.

It is interesting that a large amount of the Chelsea lads have considerably more experience despite being younger. Seems that they are pushing their lads along quicker and getting them out on loan at an earlier age. Not saying that is the right thing to do but we've definitely held quite a few lads back too long before getting them league experience.

Pereira seemed a bit isolated and frustrated playing as a lone striker and he dropped deep in search of the ball which meant that there often wasn't anyone in the area when we got some momentum going forward. I think I heard in the commentary that the Chelsea team were all under 19 whereas we had a fair few 20+. I agree with the post above Chelsea played better and looked more skilful and were generally a more cohesive unit (I think they've played more games together at this level this season than our lads have in their careers or something). Ben Amos made a few good saves and I thought Janko and a Varela had decent games.
