As things stand, this is the squad for the upcoming campaign (with Varela an overage player):

GKs: Joel Pereira,Kieran O'Hara,George Dorrington,Vanja Milinkovic-Savic?
DFs: Donald Love,Sadiq El-Fitouri,Cameron Borthwick-Jackson,Guilermo Varela
MFs: Liam Grimshaw,James Weir,Josh Harrop,Sean Goss,Matty Willock,Devonte Redmond,Scott McTominay,Josh Doughty
Wings/STs: Ash Fletcher,Joe Riley,Demetri Mitchell,Oliver Rathbone

First teamers who might feature: Paddy McNair,Tyler Blackett,James Wilson,etc,...
U18s who might move up: Timothy Fosu-Mensah,Axel Tuanzebe,Marcus Rashford,Tyler Reid,Callum Gribbin,RoShaun-Williams

How do you think about the squad?Any other players who might go on loan before September?Who will be the key players?How good is our chance to win the title again? (not like it's that important anyway)
 
Varela sticks out, does he really need a season in the U21s? Surely should be loaned or sold.

I like Donald Love and Borthwick-Jackson, Grimshaw and Harrop are quality.

Can see Varela does a Vermijl and sticks around due to the lack of LBs.
 
Looks like quite a big change in the squad so I'm looking forward to getting to know more about all these players as I don't get to see much of the u18s.

Of last season's u21s I really only rate Harrop and to a lesser extent Sean Goss but he was held back by injury so we'll get a better look at how he'll handle the step up this season. Hope to see Harrop going out on loan in January. Love isn't bad but don't see much chance of him making it and Grimmy is a bit shite tbh. The others like Fletcher and Willock are just kind of there for me.

There is no real big name stepping up either who has already been an u21 regular which is disappointing. Demi Mitchell, Joe Riley and CBJ are the ones from what I've seen that I'm looking forward to most. Also Josh Doughty as he is Canadian so I'm really hoping he is a decent player.

The u18s are the more exciting group with TFM, Tuanzebe, Gribbin etc. and I'm hoping to see them in the u19s and breaking into the u21s as well. We're quite light in the back so it would be nice to see Tuanzebe, Reid, Williams and TFM promoted instead of fecking around with shite like El-Fitouri. I'd send Varela on his way as well. Although Blackett and McNair will most likely be regulars.

This line-up for the first half of the season would be fair for me:

J.Pereira/Milinkovic
Love/Reid - McNair/Tuanzebe - Blackett/Mensah - Varela/CBJ
Grimshaw/Willock/Redmond - Goss/Mensah
Willock/Mitchell/Riley A.Pereira/Harrop - Harrop/Weir
Fletcher/Rashford

Would be great if we can send Grimmy,Weir or Love out on loan.Then probably after January:

Milinkovic/Dorrington
Reid/Riley - Tuanzebe - McNair/Mensah/Williams - Blackett/CBJ
Goss/Mensah - Redmond/McTominay - Doughty/Gribbin
Riley/Rathbone - Mitchell/Rashford
Fletcher/Rashford

Rarely goes smoothly this way though.

Be interesting to know what's happening with Milinkovic-Savic - doesn't seem to be any mention of him at all on the official site.

Also be interesting to see how we manage the U19 games (assuming we make the CL) - will need to get the stronger U18s playing alongside those the year above on at least a semi-regular basis to get/keep that understanding. All the more reason to get a few more of the older U21s out on loan early.
 
Who are the upcoming stars (potentially)? I haven't had time in the past 2 years to catch up on any youth games or even news admittedly.

In recent years we're had Wilson, Pogba, Januzaj, Pereira, Morrison. That's an extremely good return apart from the obvious Pogba leaving and Morrison not giving two fecks about football.

The ones that stick out for me (not seen Milinkovic so I am not counting him)
Mensah and Tuanzabe in defense / DM. Those 2 can go far.
Gribbin in midfield - reallly talented lad.
And both Rashford and Mitchell can go far.

But I would say Mensah, Tuanzabe and Gribbin are my pick of the bunch

Is it just me, or do the names of youngsters these days seem quite Americanised? Cameron, Devonte, Tyler, Axel, RoShaun...

Williams seems as big a talent as any. Dearnley only now a 1st year player in the Academy. Future bright.
