U21s: Newcastle vs. United

Amos - Varela, McNair, Ekangemene, Rowley - James, Pearson - Janko, Rothwell, Weir - Pereira.

MUFC XI: Amos; Varela, McNair, Rowley; James, Pearson; Janko, Rothwell, Weir; Pereira

EDIT: feck off, Elliott. I only just refreshed as well.

We seem to do that at this level. The last 3 or 4 seasons its been the same. Odd to say the least.

Well, today it's due to Wilson's illness. I quite like seeing people played out of position from time to time at this level, part of the learning curve.

0-0 HT

We're handsomely the better team but we've yet to test their 'keeper.

This pitch reminds me of Will Keane's brilliant performance 2 years ago, one of the best performances I've seen at this level. If memory serves, and I think it does, De Laet came on as a forward in the second half and went on a few mazy, Romarioesque runs.

Lots of possession today but nothing to show for it. Haven't Newcastle conceded a lot of goals with year at this level? Need to create more chances in the final third a bit more precision with our final ball is needed. Perhaps thats the due to the absence of Wilson.

Terrible refereeing I don't know how bigirimana stayed on the pitch

1-0 FT

We were the tidier team but struggled to create without a proper striker. Pearson probably our best player on the night.

I watched the last 30 mins last night. Surely it is counter-productive to a players development to NOT have a natural striker playing. How is it benefiting the midfielders?

I don't know what the answer is though. Sign a player on loan???
