A wild guess but with Rashford and Gribbin taken off early in the U18s match on Saturday both of them might be involved today.

U21s: #mufc v Reading - J.Pereira; Fosu-Mensah, Williams, Poole, Riley; Willock, Redmond; El Fitouri, Rothwell, Weir; Rashford.
substitutes - Henderson, Warren, McTominay, Doughty, Mitchell.

hopefully mitchell will get some minutes.....

That staring XI would indicate that a lot of the older U21 players will be involved in one of the two games this week.

I'm looking forward to seeing Poole in action. Willock and Redmond have impressed me this season.

You would presume they are travelling with the squad to Denmark. The F.A. Cup game is on Monday, so they could play tonight, no problem.

That was originally down for Saturday, wasn't it? I hadn't realised that it changed.

The return leg is only 3 days after the Monday night game. He'll need to use his full squad. I think Januzaj, Keane and Pereria are likely to play at least a few minutes across the three games.

Looking forward to seeing the Willock and Redmond combine tonight. Sadiq just doesn't fill me with any kind of confidence.

am i the only one that has problems with the stream tonight....sound works perfect but the picture stops every few seconds:mad:

We've been pretty quiet so far. Weir has been our most lively player.

Even enough game. Reading had the chance of the half and hit the post from it.

Weir and El-Fitouri are moving the ball well down the right and Rashford has shown glimpses of his ability.

But we're not working their keeper enough and are lacking dribblers who can commit defenders.

Rashford pulls the ball back for the oncoming Riley who blazes over from the edge of the box. Our best chance. He should have hit the target.

maybe he was lively but quite shocking in the first 30 minutes, very poor overall team performance so far, no leaders, no difference makers, too many defensive minded players, the only player who seem to enjoy 3 at the back is Riley, who should have scored

Player a host of central midfielders and El-Fitouri behind Rashford ain't gonna work. Not like Joyce has many other options though.

Reading are good at this level and it's our true U21 team (not inflated by Keane, Januzaj and Pereira's presence). This game is better for them than hammering sides 6-0.

Joyce will expect more urgency and running off the ball.

Pretty poor game so far. Some nice moments from Willock but Rothwell and Rashford need to get involved more. Don't think the 3 at the back is working, TFM should be pushed out either to RB or into midfield.

The absence of Harrop has been equally crucial.Lack of players that can break them down.

Mitchell on to inject some unpredictability I guess.

Much better from United. A lovely through ball from Willock found Weir's well timed run, but he could only get a weak attempt off.

1-0 United.

Riley makes a great run down the left, squares it to the near post and then Weir manages to hit the post before possibly scoring the rebound, although it might have been an own goal in the end.

Much improved this half. Our energy levels have improved by a tenfold.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and guess that Joe Riley does well on our fitness-tests :)

That Joe Riley fella has got more power in his engine than Lescott's new whip does!

Better second half from the young devils, Willock and Riley the best performers..

hopefully next time we play with back four but hard to do that with so many central defenders and midfielders, shame Harrop's injured. Any idea how is Mitchell's fittness ? surely when he made the bench he must be ready to play some minutes, not sure how he would fitted into this anti system though..
