Another indoor tournament in Germany for our youth players, this time in Göttingen. As @Gungerz said it'll be interesting to see which players will be here and who will go to the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup. We won the REWE tournament both in 2017 as well as 2018.

Some decent academies in the other groups - PSV, AZ, SK Rapid, Fulham, Schalke... Way too many rules to go through. Match length 1x13min, pitch size 40x20m, 4+gk on the pitch at the same time.

More info (in German) on the official website.

All matches are streamed live on YouTube.

Good to see plenty of 2008s and even a couple of 2009s in the team. Looks like we’re going with an older squad for the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup, as expected.

Nick Cox:
”These competitions give us different stimuli.

“It’s small-sided, indoor games, so it’s about touch, close control and intensity. We’re also playing against German clubs like Bayern Munich who play in this format every week so it’s a proper challenge. We’re playing them at their game.”

”These smaller formats in front of crowds are great for all-around development as they expose players to new challenges that they might not face in a full-sized game, and the addition of the crowd adds a new level of pressure to overcome.

“This is one part of our consistent focus on delivering a varied programme. The league matches supporters may see the results of are just one part of a wider games programme which we hope will stretch the boys as much as possible to help prepare them for a future in professional football.”

Unsurprisingly it looks like it’s Adam Lawrence who is in charge of this team. Wonder if it’s Colin Little or David Hughes who will manage the team in the Mercedes-Benz Junior Cup. Or the U16s' head coach?

Colin Little is with Paul McShane assisting.
