U19: Manchester United - Shakhtar Donetsk

Don't know why it has been moved. Ground availability?

Anyway, would love to see the team and Nicky Butt get through. Have seen some really good teams in other groups and it would be great to see our boys tested against them. Will be a very tough game but there is no reason why they can't beat Shakhtar at home.

Lineup: Gollini; Janko, Evans, McNair, McConnell; Pearson, Rothwell, Harrop, Goss; Wilson, A Pereria

Subs: J Pereira, Byrne, Fletcher, Rowley, Willock, Barber, Redmond

Great line up! Looking forward to this. It brings a positive relief from watching the first team at the moment.
A united team without any out-an-out wingers!! Who would of thought it!! ....All five across the middle are creative and all are capable of playing in the number 10 role. The movement and understanding between them should be very good.
Only surprise is no natural left back in the 11 even though two are on the bench.
Edit: Font is a mess for some reason.

The only proper winger we have at youth level at the moment is Mitchell really, although Janko can play further forward.

Evans played left back last season so not unusual for him. Normally the team seems to be selected by seniority rather then necessarily individual ability as there is a group of players too old for the u18s, but not regularly involved for the u21s, so this competition has been used give them games.

Really talented front 6. Every one of them has a chance of making it, hopefully one or two will.

Not convinced by the CBs though. No Grimshaw is a concern.

they have some very good players but god the like to roll around. Should have scored then hit own man

You can tell that they're a proper u19 side and not somewhat patched together like our lads, but player for player we look more talented and I've got a good feeling about the second half.

Having centre-halfs who are poor in possession is a problem for us at every level it seems. You could have xavi and iniesta in there but if you cant pass the ball into the midfield you wont control the game.

Well done Wilson, had the composure and intelligence to pick him out and not just whack it.
