Ruud ftw
A very makeshift side lost 4-0 at Wolves this morning.

1. Jacob
2. Fornasier
3. Blackett
4. McCullough
5. McGinty
6. M Keane
7. Giverin
8. Hendrie
9. Lingard
10. Lawrence
11. van Velzen

12. Rothwell (7)
13. Coll
14. Barmby (10)

Debuts for McCullough and van Velzen, as well as Rothwell, who captained the U15s at Marveld and MUPC this year.

Not got exact timings for the substitutions, or the Wolves goals (a hattrick from Zeli Ismail and one from Liam McAlinden fwiw).

How did Van Velzen play? Why was the team so pitch patch (at risk of sounding stupid due to poor memeory and general lack of knowledge)

Taken from one of their fan blogs:

The Wolves Under 18′s did much better against their United counterparts than the first team when it comes to results.

They met Manchester United at home and could claim a revenge for the loss away by winning with four goals against nothing. Three of the goals were scored by Zele Ismael!

It was the heaviest defeat that the United Under 18′s have taken this season and the largest win by Wolves. Reports at Manchester says that the Wolves youngsters gave them a cruel lesson and were totally dominant on the pitch.

For the first goal Ismail challenged their central defender and former Charlton player Sean McGinty and rounded their goalkeeper Jacob and tucked it in.

The second goal he took from the spot after a handball in the area by a United player. The referee didn’t approve of the first penalty, so he had to place the ball in the net a second time.

3-0 was a header by Liam McAlinden in the beginning of the second half.

The last goal – to complete the Zele hat-trick – he clipped past the United goalie at the near post after a low cross from the right.

Thank you, Zele and the Under 18′s. You have made the first team loss against United a little lighter to handle.

No idea why it was a makeshift team - assume a lot of the most notable players not to feature (Johnstone, Thorpe, Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Keane, Cofie etc) will be involved for the reserves tomorrow night. The illness that's going round at the club might have claimed a few of them as well (or might have claimed a few of the reserves, meaning academy guys needed resting).

Hard to say how van Velzen played, it wasn't on live and no-one seems to have gone to the game. Highlights were on earlier, didn't catch them but hopefully will at some point - they're on at 2pm and 5pm tomorrow.

If anyone happens to know the timings of the United substitutions from someone who went, that'd be much appreciated.

Lot's of us who would normally have gone couldn't make it due to the 3:00 ko at OT

Can't argue with the result, Wolves were the better side, passed it around well especially leading upto the 3rd goal, Ismael was very impressive for them.

United should have had a scored on more than one occasion though. Didn't see too much of Van Velzen, he did turn well towards the end to open up a chance for himself but the keeper saved his effort, also should have done better with a deflected shot that looped towards him, but that's being too critical for his first appearance. He is a giant.

You've really gone above and beyond today, GII. Much obliged.
