Barclays Under 18 Premier League
Kick off: Saturday, 17 August, 11:00 AM BST
Location: ?

All fixtures are subject to change. Home matches will be played at the Aon Training Complex unless otherwise stated.
Unlike last season, when the Academies were divided into three national qualifying groups from which the best-performing teams qualified for the post-Christmas Elite Group Stage, the 2013/14 Barclays U18 Premier League is split into two regional leagues: North and South.
Each league consists of 11 Category 1 Academies who will play each other home and away, and also meet each team in the opposing group once (either home or away) for a total of 31 fixtures per Academy.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, with the winner of each league deemed to be the home team, facing the winners-up of the opposing division. Each of the semi-finals shall be played at the home team's registered ground or at a neutral venue determined by the Premier League.

Not live on MUTV but highlights show on Sunday 5pm

Why isn't it live?

These games are pretty much the only reason MUTV is worth keeping.

(sort of) Team vs West Hame: Pereira, Evans, Barber, Ioannou, Borthwick-Jackson, Goss, Harrop, Wilson, Fletcher, Redmond

From Twitter so don't blame me there's only 10 players!

0-1 down at half time apparently. Is that U18 debuts for B-J, Goss & Redmond?

This is the debut in the U18 Premier League for all three. BJ had one sub appearance for the academy last season, in the Milk Cup, Goss has 3 starts and 3 subs but none in the U18 PL, and Redmond was also limited to Milk Cup appearances last season.

Thanks GD, thought so.

United had an effort cleared off the line but are now 0-2 down.

Official site can't be bothered to give us the lineups...

U18s: West Ham 2 United 1

Manchester United opened the Barclays Under-18 Premier League season with a narrow 2-1 reverse at West Ham.

The Hammers moved into a two-goal lead in Romford but James Wilson's penalty reduced the arrears and sparked hopes of a dramatic late comeback.

Lewis Page opened the scoring with three minutes remaining of the first half and, although Nicholas Ioannou and Josh Harrop had chances to level, the hosts doubled the advantage through Jerry Amoo.

Soon afterwards, following a handball inside the box, last season's top goalscorer Wilson stepped up to beat Vit Nemrava from the spot. However, Steve Potts' East Londoners held on to clinch the three points with United next in action away to Stoke City next weekend.

Highlights will appear on MUTV this Sunday at 5pm BST.

I just saw the highlights of it, I'll be looking forward to seeing more of Mitchell, Harrop and Goss this season. We've got a couple of players who are quite tall as well and physical.

Just saw the highlights now thought Goss looked very classy he was like a left footed Carrick at times and has grown about a foot since the last time I saw him play. Harrop was brilliant once he got moved into the centre from the wing and deserved at least one goal. Overall we were quite unlucky to loose this after having a few shots cleared off the line and a goal ruled out and it was a promising start to the season considering we had 6 or 7 lads making under 18 debuts and only really Wilson and Ioannou who have played regularly at this level

I liked the look of Goss too, and a great little cameo from Mitchell too. The partnership of Goss and Willock looks nicely balanced in CM. Unusual for an u18 side at United to play with 2 out and out strikers too, it will be interesting to see how Wilson plays as more responsibility on him as one of the most experienced players this year.

Who's the Thompson who came on for us?

Is it that Northern Irish guy that played in the victory shield?

Cheers man. Good to see you back.

Harrop is one of the most naturally gifted kids I've seen in our academy for years. Hope to see more this season, but his close control is Barca-esque.

 I've liked Harrop since that game against Swansea 18 months ago, but he hasn't really been given the chances since then so I have no idea how well he's developed.
