United were 2-0 down at half time. Goals from Pogba and two from King gave United a 3-2 second half victory. The third goal by King was in injury time.

Team: Devlin, Brown, McGinty, Thorpe, Wootton, Tunnicliffe, Ajose, Pogba, King, Keane, Morrison.

Subs are Lingard, Johnstone, Cole, Cofie and Fornasier.

is it on TV? In work so couldn't see it anyway, but interested to know.

EDIT: Highlights tomorrow at 5pm on MUTV.

how much time left ? Ah just realized it was over :) Sorry!

Another injury time goal against City this season

Just got back in. Writing a match report for my site, should be up in a sec. Proper game of two halves though, pretty terrible first-half (although City were no better and we gifted them two goals), brilliant second half. Three great goals as well, Pogba's especially.

You got assists as well ?

Think Tunnicliffe passed to Pogba for the first but Pogba basically made it for himself with a majestic bit of skill (always called it the Maradona or Marseilles turn as a kid, dunno what others called it, see it quite often but not used to quite the brilliant effect Pogba used it). Not sure about the second goal but King hammered it from just outside the box anyway so there wasn't much of an assist there. Ajose set up the third.

Pogba has really impressed me this season, I'm basing this primarily on the highlights packages that Girish II has (fantastically) put up for academy and reserves games. Don't want to get carried away, he's only young etc. but he looks like a great prospect.

Think Everton's academy have lost in their game this evening. The tables differ in various sites, but from what I can work out, the situation is:

United P26 51pts
Everton P25 44pts
WBA P25 42pts

So if that's right, a win at Bolton on Saturday clinches the group.

Pity Pogba is likely to miss the academy group play off due to the red card. shame.

Everton definitely lost anyway. Everton's site definitely lists them as having played 25 games now, and while the latest premierleague.com bulletin has them down as having played 22, i think they've played three games since then (Thu-Sat-Tue) so that ties in with what I've worked out.

premierleague.com should confirm it in the next day or so anyway.

Right, I thought that I'd worked it out, and then I realized that the table was updated after the last results given.

According to the Premier Academy League Bulletin, the table is correct to the 22nd April:

So, we should be able to project forward from that. United and Everton have played twice since then, West Brom only once:

Man Utd: Derby (3-1), Man City (3-2).

Everton: Newcastle (1-0), Stoke (1-2).

West Brom: Nottingham Forest (4-0).

Therefore, depending on whether Everton's game against Crewe which was played on the day that the table was last updated is included, the table should either look like this:

1. Man Utd P26, W15, D6, L5, F55, A30, GD+25, 51Pts
2. West Brom P25, W11, D9, L5, F51, A28, GD+23, 42Pts
3. Everton P24, W12, D5, L7, F46, A29, GD+17, 41pts

Or, this:

1. Man Utd P26, W15, D6, L5, F55, A30, GD+25, 51Pts
2. Everton P25, W13, D5, L7, F48, A29, GD+19, 44pts
3. West Brom P25, W11, D9, L5, F51, A28, GD+23, 42Pts

Apparently there are 10 inter-group games, making a total of 28 fixtures per season.

The winner of Group C will face Arsenal, winners of Group A (by a long way, although it isn't a very strong group, by the looks of it) in the semi-final playoff.

I wish I hadn't started this, to be honest.

from official site

U18s: City 2 United 3

There's just something about late winners against Manchester City this season, and it's not confined to the first-team after United's Under-18s came from 2-0 down to beat the Blues 3-2 on Tuesday.

It could be a vital three points in the race for the Premier Academy League Group C title.

Ahmad Benali and Harry Bunn gave City a first-half lead after United twice failed to deal with set-pieces for the home side.

Joshua King was denied penalty kicks either side of the half-time break. But it was the Reds' spirit and determination to get something out of the game in the second half – and the team's attacking strength – that shone through.

Paul Pogba hauled United back into the contest with a fine goal on the hour mark, then, with striker John Cofie on as a substitute for defender Sean McGinty, the Reds went for it. Within two minutes of the change on 73 minutes, King had fired in United's second – a spectacular shot in off the crossbar.

Then, with 90 minutes on the clock, King rose highest to head home Nicky Ajose's cross from the left to clinch a dramatic victory.

United: Devlin; Brown, Thorpe, Wootton, McGinty (Cofie 73); Morrison, Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Ajose; King, Keane.

Subs: Johnstone, Lingard, Cole, Fornasier.

Hahaha even theU18s lads beat the bitters in Fergie time. That's four time in a single season :D

MUTV confirms my estimate of the table, so a win on Saturday definitely does the trick.

That's the table per MUTV. As PS18 said, a win against Bolton on Saturday clinches the league.

3 great strikes for our goals, Benali looks a talent for them.

Three fabulous goals. Pogba's goal was a Zidane pirouette on the edge of the area, taking out two players, and he then beat a third man in the box, touching it past him as he tried to challenge, and finished in the bottom corner. It was probably the best goal that I've seen all season at any level. It really was that good.

Both of King's goals were terrific finishes, as well. His first was a great strike in to the same top corner of the goal as he was positioned (i.e. he was stood on the left hand side of the area and finished in to the top left corner), and his second was a fabulous header back across the keeper in to the same top corner as his first goal after a great step over, run and cross by Ajose.

This is the table:

1. Man Utd P26, W15, D6, L5, F55, A30, GD+25, 51Pts
2. Everton P25, W13, D5, L7, F48, A29, GD+19, 44pts
3. West Brom P25, W11, D9, L5, F51, A28, GD+23, 42Pts

Which means that, unbelievably, the second table in the post above was the right one. Even the goal difference is correct.

I can't wait to see this. What a year we've had with City! King and Pogba really are looking like exceptional prospects - can't wait to see the highlights.

We've seen some real crackers in the last couple of games. Talent like this can only add years onto fergie.

Let's not go overboard on Pogba, doing that is all well and good (and it was fecking brilliant) at U18 level but to say he should be starting in the Carling Cup is a bit premature. He's only had a handful of reserve run-outs so far.

Just watched the highlights.

I was in awe at Pogba's goal and I genuinely laughed out loud at King's vicious finish.

Thanks a ton for those highlights GII, Excellent work again.

Thanks Girish for the vidz.

Btw. is it me of it doesnt look like Cofie and King gets along? I noticed that Cofie's head went down when King scored and didnt exactly rush to congratulate King's 2nd goal.

But he's looked every bit as comfortable in the bits and pieces he has played at reserve level. Also, it's not like he would be struggling physically.

Yeah he certainly didn't look out of place, I remember a fancy trick he pulled off against Bolton in the Senior Cup I think it was. But you can't rush them, he needs a good run in the reserves to adjust properly before being considered for a carling cup game. As much as we'd all love to see it.

It was a brilliant match, we played some quality stuff after going 2-0 down and all our goals were memorable. Pogba really does look as complete a young midfielder, as I've seen in a long time.
