That's weird! I looked at the Sky Guide earlier today and it had Live U18s away v Wolves at 2pm. But looking now it's replaced with a re-run of the Chelsea game

They definitely advertised it as live initially. Really annoying. Highlights at 8.30pm the best we'll get seemingly.

I swear last season almost every U18 match was shown live. Really disappointing that they don't seem so bothered this year.

Nah, it was the same last year as well. They didn't show the first few matches live, and then afterwards they did.

Love the way MUTV adverts tell us how we can watch the U18/21's. A few live games would be nice. Anyone else think MUTV is not a good as it was. I have noticed that on the post match phone ins the number of calls have gone right down and it is all pundit talks and interviews.

They show pretty much the exact same games as they've always done. If anything theres more matches on thelast 2 seasons.

They never showed mid week academy/u21 games regularly. The odd one or two maybe. They still show the Saturday morning matches live.

Is it that more of the academy games seem to be midweek? I got used to seeing the games on a Saturday.

Apparently so yeah

Pity we can't get to see these kids play, if it was a first team tour match it would be on no matter what time of day. Maybe they don't have the same amount of camera crews now or commentators are moonlighting for other sports networks.

Heard on the official site that a last minute change of pitch meant that it couldn't be televised in its entirity. At least they'll be some highlights on tonight... which I'm hoping someone will capture and post online!

U18s: United 6 Wolves 1

Manchester United's Under-18s scored three times in each half to register a convincing 6-1 defeat of Wolves at the Aon Training Complex.

The only League One club in the Academy league provided a sterner test than the scoreline suggests and enjoyed a good period just before half-time but were unable to contain a side containing Josh Harrop's invention in midfield and James Wilson's blistering pace and intelligence in attack.

Some sloppy defending allowed two-goal Ashley Fletcher to win possession and tee up Harrop for an early opener and only the woodwork denied Wilson moments later after the skipper rounded goalkeeper Scott Dutton and a goal seemed certain. Wilson and Harrop were always at the forefront of things, firing wide and shaving the bar respectively, although Dan Murray offered a shot wide in retaliation for the visitors.

Wilson scooped a lob over the bar following some persistent play by Nicholas Ioannou but the second goal arrived from an unlikely source as full-back Callum Evans played a one-two with Harrop and smashed past Dutton at his near post. Dutton fared better with a deflected Wilson effort, saving superbly, but was beaten again when a neat run by Harrop allowed Fletcher to get on the scoresheet.

Sean Goss' shot caused Dutton problems but Wolves made a fight of things when Kieran O'Hara could only push a Peter Smith drive onto a post and into the net. With their tails up, Cieron Keane then forced an important touch from O'Hara to divert the ball for a corner.

Any hopes of a comeback were soon extinguished after the interval when Harrop's centre was met by Fletcher's aggressive close-range header. Jesse Devers worked O'Hara before both sides almost put through their own net, Dutton punching a Goss corner towards the goal and Ioannou sending a Tom Hill cross against a post.

Harrop continued to impress by making a goalline clearance and was too high with a free-kick attempt after Fletcher was fouled. Two goals inside a minute extended the lead with substitute Ruairi Croskery supplying a precise finish after Evans' crunching tackle allowed Goss to advance forward. Seconds later, Wilson claimed the goal his performance deserved with a powerful solo run that preceded a clever shot past the exposed Dutton.

Wilson hit the woodwork for a second time with a thunderous shot and, after Croskery went close to his second, the United captain illustrated his searing pace again to tee up Devonte Redmond but the no.11 was unable to hit the target from an inviting position.

United: O'Hara; Evans (Reid 78), McConnell, Ioannou, Barber; Harrop, Goss, Willock (Croskery 62), Redmond; Fletcher, Wilson. Subs not used: Henderson, Rashford.

Ah, I remember now we were Harrop lovers in our newbie days.

 I can only hope that Harrop continues to perform as well as it sounds like he has today so that my thread can be resurrected.

Just caught the highlights. Wilson seems to be in the process of outgrowing this level, Harrop looked excellent and Goss, who I haven't seen much of, seems to have a nice left peg. There's no shortage of potential in this side.

Also just saw the highlights. We were excellent, Harrop was a stand out player and we could have easily scored 10.

Not a bad thing given the general idiocy of the callers...
