U18s: United vs. Spurs

No one watching this? I've kept one eye on it, we've done alright against a good side. 0-0 at HT, Mitchell's been lively but he squandered the best chance of the game so far.
 
1-0 FT. Fletcher with the goal after a smooth counter attack involving Mitchell and Riley.
 
Very good defensive performance from United with Joe Riley probably our best player today. Fitting that we kept our first clean sheet in 25 games in Nicholas Ioannous last game for the club

Bit surprised at that. I always thought he was one of our better prospects in terms of CB's. Could have been handy to have around for our under 21's next season assuming the likes of Thorpe and Keane will be out on loan again.

Looked a great prospect at 16 but hasnt developed much since and hasnt been helped by injuries. Well McConnell will move up next season and we have a few others who can play there but I wouldnt be surprised if we bring in a young centre half in the summer whether thats Velkov or someone else
 
I remember that season when Ioannou looked like the business (got to the FAYC semis against Chelsea) but as it was said above he hasn't developed since. Never thought he wouldn't get a new deal though, thought he'd hang around and get the chop when he was older
 
Doubt either will go on and make us kick ourselves but surprised at both Ioannou and Barber leaving. Barber in particular's had a very solid season and Ioannou's clearly got talent, even if he hasn't pushed on anywhere near as much as hoped. We've certainly offered pro deals/extended scholarships to worse players than these two in recent years. Guess we might not know the full facts though - possible they were offered a third scholarship year but have taken pro deals elsewhere maybe? Certainly sounds like they have clubs lined up judging by the other players' comments on Instagram.
