------------Gollini--------------

Love McNair Grimshaw Evans

Weir Pearson Rudge Barmby

-------Pereira Byrne---------

Although I don't think Pereira will actually be playing that far up field.

Subs:

Ioannou
Sutherland
Daehli
Wilson
Fletcher

Andreas Pereira scored the goal.

Daehli is coming on for Weir on 25th minute.

Bryne has really progressed well this season. Lovely goal.

It's scary how much Gollini has improved in the air - he was awful last season

I don't think they did. Yes there was that 7-0 where Wilson scored 5, but overall the team wasn't playing particularly great football IMO and we weren't getting the most out of the incredibly talented array of midfielders we now have at this level. Byrne brings them into the game much more, in my opinion, and the whole team looks better. Not that Wilson shouldnt be playing - there is definitely room for both in the team - but I think we have a much better shape when Byrne plays up top.

Grimshaw has impressed me no end. He's a cracking player.

Daelhi and Perreira are jut wonderful to watch. Barmby is a lowboys footballer and Byrne really is starting to impress me.

Ben Pearson is a machine.

I missed this game. Luckily it's on again at 11pm.

Rothwell not playing? For some reason I never noticed him until this year, and wasn't greatly impressed early on; but he looks better and better. He and Pearson are quality in midfield. And Pereira is a beautiful footballer. It's all good.

Thanks for the updates, lads. No Rothwell is a bit of a concern though. Hopefully just rested.

I think he came off with a knock last week, hopefully nothing serious after the injury problems he's had the past 18 months

U18s: United 3 Southampton 0
A Sam Byrne brace helped Manchester United's Under-18s to a 3-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Byrne netted twice in the second half after Andreas Pereira gave the young Reds the lead on 19 minutes following good work by Byrne.

Southampton went into the game three points clear of Paul McGuinness' side in the Barclays Premier League Under-18s Group 2 table and beat United 4-2 only last month. But at a blustery Trafford Training Centre, they were no match for a strong United side.

Byrne was the star and it was his shot, following a wonderful piece of skill, that proved too hot for the Southampton goalkeeper to handle on 19 minutes. Pereira tapped in the rebound to send the Reds 1-0 up.

The visitors began the second half menacingly but United's counter-attacking play was also causing problems and on 64 minutes Byrne netted with a terrific header at the near post from Jack Barmby's cross.

The Dubliner capped a fine performance and completed the scoring with 12 minutes to play when he cut inside off the left touchline and curled a stunning effort into the top corner.

Victory takes United above Southampton and into second spot, by way of a superior goal difference. The young Reds' next test comes in the shape of Everton on Wednesday 17 April (11:00 BST).

United: Gollini; Love, Evans (Ioannou 46), McNair, Grimshaw; Pearson, Weir (Daehli 25), Rudge, Byrne; Pereira, Barmby (Wilson 65)
