I just checked the table. United finished dead last in their zone ? Was the team that poor ? Or were some of the brighter prospects regularly playing at the U21 level ?

They have really picked up. Is it just a change of coach that has done this?

They played the same way but had the final ball this time.McGuinness did mention earlier in the season that the UEFA Youth League caused disruption in the coaching schedule that made them lagging behind the schedule more than it should be so perhaps this is the period that they finally manage to catch up.The return of Buffonge from injury has been crucial as well.Very good player.

Small, unbalanced pool of players to choose from, lost a lot of their best talents to the U21s in a big rush - notably almost the entire first-choice back line in quick succession - couple of different competitions made things complicated, failed to turn attacks into goals too often, and generally the bad results snowballed a little bit. There's definitely not a lack of talent to worry about - if nothing else, a load of players who started the season as U18s are now shining for the U21s and even the first team - but you could argue that their problems reflect a slightly concerning lack of numbers coming through which seems to be a developing issue. Hopefully something the 'restructuring' will resolve.

It's funny because I actually rate quite a few players from the current U18s side - certainly higher than some of the batches recently, might be only less than the side last year and the 2011 side.Gribbin,Kehinde,Reid,Warren,etc... are all the talents that people will hear a lot about them when they move up to the U21s and even the lesser talents like Scott seems to be better than the "lesser talents" of the other groups. The group of Gribbin,Williams,... were dubbed as the best group from our academy for a while when they were at U9s level or around that.
