We won 2-0 with goals from Makela and Burkart. First start for Makela under McKenna with Boonen not playing.

Replay on MUTV from 5pm.

Dominating game from us again.Less so than in the previous games but still very comfortable. Chong and Gomes our best players. Buffonge,Burkart,Kenyon,Tanner also played well. Was very impressed with Buffonge at CM recently, might be his best role going forward. Kenyon is growing into that LB role. O'Connor and Barrett should be our first choice CB pairing this season.

We have had some other good chances to extend the scoreline.

Gomes has been better this season than last. He's been getting on the ball more often and trying to open an attack more often.

that assist by Gomes.. makes it look so easy

Don't agree with this, when Tyrell is back, he should go to cb and O'Connor should go to rb. Think we will be more defensively sound like that.

The point is playing your best players for development purpose.Tanner is not a RB but he deserves to play so even if we hold Warren back he will replace Barrett and that's all. We will play our "best team" in the FA Youth Cup with probably a O'Connor - Warren - Williams - Kenyon back four.

I'm actually talking more about the competition between Barrett, Ercolani and Max Dunne. Barrett looks like the most convincing option for me.

In terms of the competition between the 3 cb's, I would say it's out of Barrett and Ercolani. Ercolani had a good game against Middlesborough, but has been in and out since. This is all contingent on players actually staying fit, but like you said the youth cup games will change the whole team regardless.

I think the main reason O'Connor has been playing cb rather than rb is because all of Ercolani, Dunne and Barrett are lacking a bit of pace and O'Connor stops teams from exposing that. Good to see Burkart was a lot more involved yesterday, in a lot of the other games he's been constantly making clever runs but the other players haven't really been alive to them but yesterday they were picking him out a lot more. McKenna said after the match yesterday that they'd been doing work this week involving his movement so hopefully that develops because he looks like he'll score a lot of goals if he gets the service.

Two very tidy finishes.

Really good work by Chong and Gomes to set up both goals.

I love watching Chong run. With the big floppy barnet and leggy pace it's exactly like watching a young Ruud Gullit!
