Saturday 3 October, 11 am at Aon Training Complex.Live on MUTV.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the lads rested after the UEFA Youth League fixture.

Seems like not.Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah are playing today.
Genuine question mate. Respect your knowledge of the youth setup.
Do you have any keepers who have a good chance of making it all the way (younger than SJ)?

I doubt that any academy keeper will actually make it at the club but I would say Henderson (U21s) and Campbell (U16s) look like the ones with most potential.Joel Pereira (U21s) is good as well and I haven't seen anything from the new U18s signing Moutha-Sebtaoui.

Thanks Khoazany.

Kehinde was great coming off the bench against Wolfsburg, gave us back some control in the middle. Pleased to see him start this one.

cant find a working stream :o

edit: nevermind, found one :)

Ack. They might have deserved that in the end, had a spell of about five minutes solid on the ball there.

We are having a hard time dealing with how much pressure Liverpool are applying. When the ball is in our half Liverpoool are happy to push 3 and 4 players up pressing, the moment the ball works into the Liverpool half they drop back so they only leave 1 or 2 forward.

This is why I don't understand us playing TFM so high up the pitch. What's the point in having him up there when Gribbin's having to run between his CBs to get the ball? Timmy's got all the qualities to play in that deeper role, will be more composed and safer in possession there and has the knack of driving past a player into the midfield to open gaps. Gribbin's a real liability with the ball there, and his skills aren't that well suited to making the first forward move.

I noticed that Liverpools wide men were putting immediate pressure whenever our full backs got the ball, forcing us to play inside. We havent been effective at all out wide because of it, they have cut out the passing channels to our wide midfielders. So everytime we switch the play across the back Liverpool cut off the chance to go forward fwide rom the switch

will never understand this obsession with playing like barca, i love possession football and i want all of our teams try to dominate the game but ffs if you are getting pressed by 5 attackers when you are trying to take a goal kick then kick the fecking ball up.

I get frustrated with it but I can see what they are trying to do. The problem relates to Brightonians point about TFM being so high up. There arent enough immediate outlets for the backs to play forward because of it.

i like playing from the back and starting with short pass to the defenders but not at any cost! Its like they are not allowed to kick it long from a goal kick....

Its funny I was moaning about this last week but on reflection at this age level for their development going forward its a good thing to be trying to play out from the back rather than going long. It means that the young players develop more skills relative to controlling a game. Going long is an easy option. So if young players only ever play long thats all they can do when older. if the learn to play out when younger (when mistakes dont matter as much) it means they end up with a choce of going long or keeping the ball.

you dont understand what im talking about, i dont want us to play long ball but when the opponent presses you with 5 players then you should kick it long, not because thats an easy option but because its a best option. They will encourage players to take on defenders and dribble but you wont applaud a player that sticks his head in the ground and goes dribbling in area where they have a group of 3, 4 defenders.
Back to the passing from the back, number of times defender goes long as he doesnt have a free option to pass it short, should we ban that also and force him to dribble his way out?

Cue for clueless journo's to write another article about how our youth setup is lagging behind rest of the country..
