It’s a huge game. City are catching up and they are currently 10 points behind us with two games in hand. They’ll face Wolves away this weekend, who knows they could drop some points there. That would be a nice bonus after them winning all nine games in all comps after losing 1-0 to us.
Liverpool have been in shaky form since we beat them 4-3 in that crazy match at the end of January. 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats in their last six.
United since that January derby: 4-2-1. I’d say the big loss to Man City was probably not as crucial as the draws against Derby and Forest. But the win against Blackburn before the international break hopefully wiped out some pain from that Man City game.
A win here would be a huge one as our last five in the league after this will be Stoke (H), Wolves (A), Sunderland (H) and Everton (H). Anything can happen at this level, but apart from Wolves all of them are in the bottom four in the North table.
Especially with some key players coming back soon and some of the younger lads hitting form I’m confident we’d get the job done if we beat Liverpool on Saturday.
