Must win game probably with the way Everton are looking.

Reading's win over us was huge for them, allowing them to jump us in the standings and put some space between themselves and Southampton, in addition to the two games in hand over the Saints.

We also have a game in hand over Southampton, but that game is at Fulham, the leaders of the group, who have won 9 out of 12 games. But one of those losses was against United, and we'll have a great shot at repeating our March 16th victory.

Last match—U18s: United 3-1 Fulham, Byrne 22' (Rothwell), Byrne 26' (Barmby), Wilson 90+4' (Barmby)

Gollini
Evans Grimshaw Dalley Ioannou
Weir Pearson Rothwell Rudge
Barmby
Byrne

subs: Harrop 46' (for Evans), Wilson 74' (for Byrne), A. Pereira 81' (for Rothwell)

Fulham have a pretty good team at this level, as they showed in Dallas too.

Atleast, they don't have a physically big and athletic team like reading though. Should be a good match.

Same time as the U21's vs West Brom too, i heard.

Saints have played all their games.

Dude, why can't I count to 14? Man, I'd asked to be punched in the face but you're in London.

Right! So, Southampton is eliminated! This is our last chance to get some points, but no matter the result we can't pass Fulham. So Fulham have clinched a place in the next round, if we're lucky perhaps they'll do some rotating. However, they will want that first place spot, in order to get what should be an easier game in the semi-final against the winner of the other group.

I live in Manchester tbf if that is any better :)

Must beat Fulham and hope Everton drop some points. All in all it has still been a decent season for the u18.

Everton remaining fixtures:

Bolton (H)
Fulham (a)
Palace (a)

Need them to drop points in 2...all 3 would be lovely...though can't see them having too many problems with Bolton at home.

Such a shame this one won't be on TV, will probably be the more exciting game, and certainly far more crucial points wise than the Reserve's game against bottom of the table West Brom.

If anyone would post some updates during the match I'm sure many of us would appreciate it!

Ah well.

Unlikely the U18's qualify now. Was a pretty entertaining game and end to end judging by the updates. Both goalkeepers did really well.

Sutherland is a bit of a decent keeper isn't he. If only he could get to Amos's height.

Reminds me of Devlin. Classy but a few inches too short. Hopefully, he still has some growing to do.

U18: Fulham 0 United 0

Manchester United's Under-18s picked up a creditable draw at leaders Fulham but the goalless stalemate leaves the Reds with only the slimmest of hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

Everton have three games in hand on Paul McGuinness' side and require only four points to steal third spot in the closing stages of the season.

The Cottagers had the better of the opening exchanges and managed an effort in the first minute but Muamer Tankovic fired over the bar. The bright start almost resulted in an opening goal as Solomon Sambou struck a post in the 21st minute and Sutherland made a wonderful save to keep out Tankovic from the rebound.

Gradually, the Reds made headway and Jack Barmby was unlucky to see a goal disallowed for offside after Jack Rudge's shot rebounded off keeper Marek Rodak and into his path. Rodak then thwarted Donald Love as the visitors ended the first half in the ascendancy.

United continued to press but Mats Daehli and Rudge were denied by Rodak while Sutherland had to be alert to prevent Patrick Roberts from opening the scoring. The ever-dangerous Tankovic had a couple of chances while the best opportunity for an away winner fell to substitute James Wilson, who almost broke the deadlock.

Cauley Woodrow could have snatched the points late on but sent the ball spinning wide when charging down a Sutherland clearance and then clipped the woodwork with a deflected drive. A draw was a good result on the night but United's fate is very much in Everton's hands.

United starting details: Sutherland; Love, McNair, Grimshaw, Ioannou; Rudge, Pearson, Weir, A.Pereira, Daehli; Barmby. Subs: Evans, O'Hara, Wilson, Byrne, Rowley.

Everton beat Bolton at home...so they need just a single point from either Fulham or Palace, without losing the other game by 6 goals, to go through ahead of us.

Seems very unlikely we'll be moving on. Still, a pretty good season overall.

Pretty decent in the league - but that FA Youth Cup failure still annoys me

Everton lost at Fulham so our playoff hopes are still faintly flickering until their trip to Palace in a few days.

With the U21 season over for them (?) possible that they let their promoted youngsters drop back for this game ?

Well, at least we can hope, then. A shame we couldn't get just one more point, I can see Palace getting a draw but a win will take something special.
