Getting to the point where you wonder if keeping MUTV is worth it :/

As someone posted in the last match thread, Southampton on the 21st will be the next televised U18 game. No idea why they think these games aren't worth showing.

First XI(from twitter):

Henderson, Evans, Barber, McConnell, Ioannou, Goss, Harrop, Willock, Wilson, Fletcher, Redmond...no sub info yet

I'm guessing Wilson is playing well. He got the assist for Fletchers goal and seemed to have had 2-3 good chances himself in the first half.
Also scored for England in the week.

Only 4, useless. Sack the kid. Seriously, Wilson looks like a real talent. It'll be hard to get anywhere near our first team but he has a shot. RVP will be getting on a little by the time he's ready and Rooney may be gone, so there could be an opening. Especially if Keane can't properly recover (unfortunately possible).

Really impressed with these young guys - I expected this to be a tough season due to the lack of experience (and possibly lack of physique) but the way they have started really shows great potential. 4 straight wins and 14 scored goals in the process - impressive.

Btw - is that 9 or 10 goals from Wilson / Fletcher in the first 5 games now ? Scary regardless

U18s: Arsenal 1 United 2

James Wilson’s brilliant second-half solo goal was sufficient to seal a hard-fought victory for Manchester United’s Under-18s away to Arsenal on Saturday.

The Reds striker, who scored on his England Under-19 debut in midweek, was unstoppable as he slalomed his way through the Gunners’ defence before sliding the ball home past keeper Mathew Macey. It was a wonderful example of close control and sheer determination that enabled Wilson to take on the home defenders single-handed.

United had gone behind in the 16th minute at London Colney, after what appeared to be a harsh penalty decision after Chuba Akpom had gone down in the area.

The same player was quickly on his feet to take the spot-kick, which Dean Henderson did well to save, but the ball fell straight at the feet of Alex Iwobi who gleefully stroked home the opener.

Arsenal may have slightly had the best of it in the early stages but the young Reds gradually eased their way back in and on the half hour they got their reward.

Wilson, who was a thorn in the Gunners’ side throughout, provided the assist and Ashley Fletcher claimed the finish.

There were chances at both ends throughout the game starting with Wilson’s rattling of the Gunners’ woodwork in the opening minutes to Josh Harrop’s near miss just seconds from the end.

Arsenal always looked dangerous when approaching Henderson’s domain but they couldn’t find the finishing touch to some impressive build-up play.

Hardly surprisingly, it was a typical keenly contested tussle between these two great clubs, which United edged thanks to Wilson’s wonderful winner.

United: Henderson; Evans, McConnell, Ioannou, Barber; Harrop, Goss (Riley 46), Willock, Redmond; Fletcher, Wilson. Subs not used: Borthwick-Jackson, J Pereira (Gk), Mitchell, Thompson.

Great goal by Wilson, who seemed to give the Arsenal defense all sorts of problems.

Wilson was on another level to anyone else on the pitch in this game his goal was fantastic and could have had another one just as good but the defender fouled him as he beat him on the edge of the box. From the highlights it looked like McConnell had a very good game up against akpom who is a real handful

Wilson seems to have taken on the captaincy and become the team leader. His workrate has upped and he seems to be enjoying having Fletcher up front with him. They look a well balanced side this year and I like everything I've seen of Goss and Willock.

Yeah he seems to be really enjoying the responsibility and working a lot harder for the team, its great to see

He actually seems to be doing even better than Keane at the same age. At the time I would have said that was stupid, because we couldn't have asked for more from Keane. But Wilson's becoming a force of nature. The sheer consistency of his goalscoring is staggering.

I just pray he doesn't pick up a bad injury.
