Walter Crickmer started it all...
After a 4-3 victory over Newcastle on the artificial pitch at Carrington the previous week...it was back to grass football and the United's U-16-side came from behind to draw 2-2 with Leeds at Wetherby yesterday. United took the lead in the first half through Mitchell Bryant....only for Leeds to equalise. The score at half-time was 1-1.

A mistake in the United defence allowed Leeds to score early in the second period but a good goal from substitute Jason Lampkin restored parity and gave United a deserved draw...although a victory would not have been undeserved....

Final score 2-2.

With both Gary Woods and Cameron Stewart both injured....United fielded a very young team....

Team: Niki Bulmer, Scott Moffatt, Joe Dudgeon, Matthew James, Oliver Gill, Michael Potts, Mitchell Bryant, Oliver Norwood, David Williams, Danny Philliskirk, Nick Ojose

Subs: Reece Brown (2), Jason Lampkin (10), Gary McMaster (7)

Scorers: Bryant, Lampkin

A couple of points of interest......

Oliver Gill is David Gill's son and played well.....a very tall central defender

Reece Brown is Brown's younger brother.....same laid back style and looks exactly like Wes!

Wow, thats quite impressing. Mitchell Bryant, Oliver Norwood, David Williams and Gary Woods have all played some min for the U18s, right? Are every single one of them 1990s? The name Nick Ojose also ring a bell, dont now why though.

Next time I am traveling to Manchester, I would really enjoy watching either the U16, U18 or the reserves (one of them must have a home game at the same time as the first team), are the stadium far from OT?

No...Carrington is about 15 mins from OT.............there are loads of United fans who watch the kids in the morning then drive down the Chester Road for the first team match......you can always get a lift from one of these guys...

The next time both games are at home is on the 13th of January.....the U-18's play Liverpool at 11.00 while the first team take on Aston Villa at 3.00pm....well worth a visit...

Sounds great. I have to consider this seriously. Man Utd vs Liverpool U18 sounds perfect, since I hear a lot about the Liverpool youngsters by norwegian Liverpool fans (if this Hammill guy - probably in the reserves now - is half as good as they claim he is, Pennant should watch out).

Great info Tony!

Isn´t Brown older' He didn´t play for the u-15s in MUPC. I would think he is 15-16.
Ojose or Ajose?
Any more info on Philliskirk, first I have heard of him.

No Reece is U/15.......therefore 14 years old......he was playing in the U/16's due to a couple of injuries but this was above his age group......

Nick Ajose.......don't know much about him except that he plays cricket in the Burnley area......

Danny Philliskirk......first I have heard of him too.......I will try to find out more...he could be from Oldham.....(Tony Philliskirk's son?)

Then Brown must have been injured for the MU Premier Cup in august.
Do you know anything about the Mellor brother who were playing for our youth sides a few years back?

Thomas and William Mellor.. I read something about them a couple of months back..
Thomas is the oldest one, and is a left sided midfielder.

They must be 12 - 15 years old..?

I think Thomas is born around 1990 and William 1992. So Thomas must have left the club.
