And may the gods, our ancestors, and luck, be with us. ;)

Lee out with a chest infection and some other Aussie i don't know out with an injury.

record international score by australia, England have just became a embarrasment since we won the ashes in 2005.

Still hopefully Lancashire will win the county championship this year so i can get some joy out of cricket.

Embarrasing stuff this. England just haven't got a clue.

I don't think they even know it's a 20-20 match.

Bell and ******gwood, two test match batsmen, blocking and getting 1's and 2's when they need 14 an over, pathetic.

Not one 6 in the whole innings.

That was the first 20/20 I have seen.

Excellent entertainment.

If they can keep it from detracting from the more serious forms of the game it should be encouraged.

I can't believe that I'm turning into a cricket fan.

not strictly true.

alrighty then, let's accentuate the positives...

1) just a friendly.
2) Vaughan looking a lot better.
3) we beat them by an even bigger margin last time.
4) Dalrymple.
5) a Swindonian on the big stage :D (albeit very briefly)
6) errr...they gave away more extras.

help me out here people!

Someone needs to remind England players that you take that 3lb lump of wood and hit the red/white round thing with it,over the rope thats around the big grassy bit

Nice to see the Aussies playing in their pyjamas.
I suppose they could stay in bed and still beat England.

I went to this game last night. Cracking atmosphere, Monty was given a huge cheer for everything he did. Gilchrist is just amazing to watch too, as was Ponting.

White was a little less elegant but neverless put on a good stand. That run-out of Pietersen was class too. Couldn't believe it when it hit.

We still fecked England without a single Ashes bowler :D

Can someone please explain the long-term team building strategy behind picking the wicketkeeper Nixon . . . 36 years old!!! :wenger:

Fletcher's not going before the World Cup so team building be damned, all for results, is probably his thinking.

And Nixon can hardly be a target for criticism after his performance, he kept wicket well enough and was 31 not out.

Our leading batsmen have only very rarely if at all, performed to the consistent and high level required of them, and that's gonna hurt you.

In isolation there are positives to be found but as a team, we're were found out yet again.

I heard the first over or two but then must've dozed off, my good fortune it would seem.

For them or us?

I never criticised Nixon, merely the idea of picking a 36-year-old, why not bring back Craig White and Dominic Cork?

So is shite bowling!

The only positive I could see was that we look very smart in our red, white and blue kit!

To be honest, this farce has now become an embarassment, get them to pack their bags and come home, let the Barmy Army play the remaining 20/20 matches!

Seen plenty of Cork last season for Lancs, he could still cut it at international level for me

It's really not cricket, but I don't mind being at a 20-20 game. Bit of nonsense to unwind in the evening. Shame is they stuff them all into a 2 week long block at OT, or at least they did last season. Rather it be spread out over the year a tad more.

I've been watching a bit of the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka games when I've not been watching England collapsing, and to be honest NZ don't look up to that much either. Could be a very poor and very one sided one day series...

I hate it. Watched ten overs of it today. It's not cricket!

It just a bit of a laugh but fun anyway.

I wouldn't want it to be played so often as to impinge on the two main forms but as the occasional novelty with maybe a quick "World Cup" every (say) 4 years I think it could do a great deal for the popularity of the game.

like Vaughan said yesterday, we should be pretty good at 20/20...we're the country that plays it the most.

there's a pretty strong argument for two seperate test/ODI teams with seperate coaches. test players in one, mostly county players in the other.

it'd certainly cut down the burn out factor.

It's become pretty popular all over the world. Obviously not on the international stage, just yet, but it will. Thing is, it may seem like a novelty at the moment, but I have this horrible feeling that the slogfest, will become more popular than test and 50 over cricket(which is at least bearable). Not sure there should be a 20-20 world cup either, as it it will devalue the 50 over world cup.

you know, if one of the lads had been a bit more forward thinking yesterday, they could have drawn a big M on a sticky label and sneakily stuck it over the P on Ponting's jersey.

Lets not get behind England people, lets get in front of them and laugh in their faces

Lets look at the England team in detail:

Monty -- one of the best left hand spin bowlers in the world
Everybody else -- shit. None of them would even get into the Scottish team, and they play in the B&H cup. Is it still called that?

In the same year as the 50 over World Cup?

Sillyness.

The Cricket Austhorities are acting like teenage boys who have just discovered that materbation feels good.

it's the first one.

it's going to be a tough year. the ECB have only just conceded that scheduling the ashes right before a world cup was probably not the best idea.

i still say different teams, different coaches. expensive, yes, but there you go.

I don't see the point of having a 20-20 world cup(arghhh) with different sides. People want to see the best players, or else you'll end up with an event like the Honk Kong 7s.
