Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
Marcus Trescothick has announced his retirement from international cricket.

The 32-year-old has been suffering from a stress-related illness which makes travelling abroad difficult.

The former England opener, who played in 76 Tests and 123 one-day games, said he was retiring now so that the England team could plan their future.

He said: "It is in the best interests of all concerned the issue is put to rest so the England team can concentrate on moving forward."

Inevitable really, but still a shame. He was a great batsman. I hope he continues to have a long county career ahead of him.

Imagine the Stress: Fly First Class every where you go, Play Cricket 9 months of the year in the sun (Except Enlish Summers) and get paid a good salary, I can really understand.

Such a pity and what a waste of talent

Shame he's ended it, i'd rather have him in team than strauss and vaughan at the moment, great to watch when in full flow and would take the attack to the openers straight away.

Dissapointing, class opener, i always thought he was bit under-rated. Incredibly powerful, and qulaity slip catcher.
No idea what's going on in his head, but it's his choice.

We're into new fangled PC terminology these days, thats why we call this a 'stress related illness'. But put basically, Trescothic has ended his England international career because he gets homesick. He must travel and stay away from his home when playing County Cricket in different parts of the UK, yet that causes him no problems. Perhaps not having such an 'illness' makes it too hard for me to understand, and I'm being too unfair, but I think this is a load of nonsense

He never used to have a problem. It's only when his wife started shagging around the Somerset changing room he had troubles! :nervous:

Have you seen the Somerset side?
Caddick's the fecking best looking!

No I don't think you're being hard, most of us who follow England abroad think much the same..! FFS he just bottled a pre-season tour here when he could have brought his Mrs along for a holiday..!!

It's a real shame, he's a very good batsmen, and a good slip catcher.

He fecking nailed those Aussies in 2005.

Agreed he's a class act and England miss him, just wish he'd sorted it out two years ago as him and Strauss are a great opening pair and Strauss has never been the same since Tress stopped playing.

Yeah, they were a great combination, especially as they are both lefties. And like you say, Strauss hasn't been the same since.

Apparently Paul "Gazza" Gascgoine is also going to announce that he no longer wants to be considered by Cappello since he didn't want to miss out on International Stating The Bleeding Obvious Week.
