Trent Alexander Arnold

Jamie "The thing is, he's left 1v1 vs, er, Dalot.... it's not Ryan Giggs"

Hows a tactic that was massively used against under Klopp a blueprint?.... It just doesn't always work as Liverpool get the space elsewhere and take that advantage.

Sky massively protecting this performance though, if it were Dalot getting rinsed, they'd have mentioned it about 10 times by now, zero so far for Trent.
They're still talking about him now and probably allocated around 80% of their post-match studio discussion to Trent tonight.

Yeah I posted that about an hour ago. There was basically nothing up to that point, absolutely think Dalot or Shaw would have been slaughtered for it in the first few minutes though still.

Don’t think it would impact them much having Bradley there instead.

Doubt he'd stay fit enough to play every single minute though... which is essentially not far off the situation you'd be throwing him in. If there's a genuine challenge on 3/4 fronts, there's no right back they can bring in that would be worth the money Trent could bring from a sale in January.

I just think they are still very capable of winning the league without him. Whether it’s Bradley, Gomez or someone else playing there instead.

Sturridge is obviously very friendly with Trent and is just trying to spin his PR in a positive light.

Has to be the most overated footballer ever.

The fact they're even having a big segment on why he was so poor. As if that isn't what happens every time he's forced to actually defend.

The league - sure... but they are competing in all 4 trophies still, and I think favourites for them all.

But they are no starting to go overboard on Sky... Neville saying he'd be seen as this Neymar-esque player if he was at Brazil  Dani Alves is the best modern full back going and never got that level of love.

Exactly. He's playing for an attacking team who have most of the ball and very rarely gets taken on. Dreadful defensively, and massively overrated on the ball.

The first team brave enough to take them on like this will knock them out of the CL. They seemed shocked that a team went toe to toe with them.

I can literally think of 3-4 different games against us where he's played like a clown.

He's good when used to his strengths but the bad parts of his game are very bad. World class fullbacks don't make out of position Diogo Dalot look like Arjen Robben

I kinda feel for him that his position no longer exists - RM in a 4 man midfield. I don’t feel bad for him really though because he’s a prick.

Thing is for all the talk about how bad he was defensively today, it wasn't a defensive mistake that directly lead to a goal. It was a mistake in the build up

Are you trying to convince yourself now that you're probably going to be stuck with him? It was an absolute horror show.

If any footballer wants to go to Madrid, is signed by Madrid, is paid accordingly, succeeds with them, then no one can criticise that decision.

They are the biggest club in the world and if it all works out then it's the pinnacle of club football. If it doesn't work out, then it can be daunting and make you wish you stayed at your former club.

It's nice to see a big English club (this years PL winners at that) lose a big player to the mammoth that is real madrid. Obviously suarez went to barca, Bale to Madrid, but the big two Spanish club never signed david silva or Aguero, or KDB or Rodri (a Madrileño)

You think he’d do best in a 4-4-2 with a RB behind him?

I agreed with you on the Marcelo debate but not sure about this. He was playing at walking pace and consistently beaten by his man.

Not sure if he was directly at fault today but doesn't really matter when he gave Utd constant opportunities.

I was highlighting the fact it wasn't just a defensive disaster, it was a calamity of a performance all around

he’ll be ok in your farmer league.

God it's great to see two former Liverpool players (Carragher and Sturridge) arguing with one another over TAA future.

I do. I think he modelled his game on Beckham and that position doesn’t exist in the modern game. He was never going to compete with Salah for the RWF position and quite frankly he’s not going to compete with anyone for that position because that’s not where his skill set lies.

Honestly, I think Beckham would have found himself in the same place playing from right back. He had a similar venture into centre midfield and had the same limitations as TAA, which would only have been exaggerated now.

Liverpool fans will be wanting that offer from Madrid accepted after today.

He's better off staying at Liverpool.

Real Madrid is the most unforgiving club in world football, and he'd be slaughtered over there with performances like that.

Good to see us targeting him again. It was just plain bizarre that Ten Hag never set us up to isolate him during him time here. I remember him putting Weghorst on his side and an on-form Rashford through the middle once. At least I think I remember it - saying it out loud it might well have been a fever dream.

he played like we normally do. lots of giving the ball away, being caught out of position and only jogging back when he should have been tweaking a bollock to get back. i’d drive him to madrid myself if i was slot.

He would never put on such an apathetic performance against Liverpool.

have you rewatched Martinez's goal after he gave the ball away? That was a definite defensive error from Trent as well. Couldn't even be arsed to close down Bruno, walking around and allowed Martinez to stroll in behind him, completely oblivious.
