Anyone been watching this? I saw the first episode last night, it was ok, not too sure if it's my kinda show but being a musician I am tempted to keep watching due to music seemingly being a big part of it

Anyone here watch it?

I've been watching it on Sky and it's good. Quite a few of the actors are from the Wire and the Corner, so the acting is good. With it focusing on music a lot, it's a bit different than other urban dramas which tend to focus on crime and drugs. Gonna stick with it.

I'm usually not too big on music being in the forefront of series, but they manage to mix it nicely with a bit of dialogue and the vibe and music is just too good to deny. Add to that characters that you care about and the fact that it's not hastily marched along to keep people interested, I'm super interested in seeing how this develops over the next season which is gonna start in April, I believe.

Then again, I'm a Simonphile.

My other half was born in New Orleans so we've watched Treme with interest. It has the potential to be outstanding, I think. The music is weaved in like the voice of the city but it's no chocolate box or chariddy pitch; it feels more honest than that. Within the context of a drama at least. Almost across the board, the central performances are naturalistic and powerful and there is a good mix of laughs, shocking snaps and slower burning storylines. We've just finished the fourth episode tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing if it can continue to grip as it certainly has thus far.
