SAF said to the press last week - i think last week - that he thought the closed transfer window helped his team focus on the matches because the press have no speculations to write about and to distract them.

I see it as a tremendous loss, especially at the moment. We need to get in some fresh face fast and yet it's not going to be possible for 2 more months.

Honestly I only see a couple of players who can give us good games at this time. Scholes, RVN, Barthez, Ferdidnand and maybe Giggs. The rest seem to have disappeared into some sort of fantasy land.

I'm not seeing so much determination from anywhere else on the pitch. We're a great side with great players, yet those qualities seem to have disappeared!

The transfer window is definitely a bad thing to us. Still remember that we didn't play well in the first few matches in 98-99 season. Fergie then brought in Yorke from Villa. We went on to win the treble at the end of that season with Yorke playing a large part in it. This season we also didn't start well, but we could no longer remedy it because the transfer window has already closed.

Every team has to abide by the rule, so I can't see how it's going to harm any team in particular.

We've also bought Yorke before the European deadline which existed back then as well. We wanted a striker all summer and still wanted when the season started. It wasn't a result of the Charity Shield defeat and the draw with Leicester.

Even if the window didn't exist, I'm not sure we'd sign someone now when the Euro deadline is over.

I think we need Escude and two more forewards.

which means we will have to offload forlan.. 5 strikers is not an option.. esp if we're going to go 4-4-1-1 all season long... just not possible...
