A poor game in reality with very little goal mouth action.
Tranmere had the best of the first half after Kuszczak flapped at a cross, it hit the post, bounced out and a Tranmere forward tapped it into the net after only 3 minutes.
Rovers then pinned the Reds back for the next half hour and Cofie hardly saw the ball. Playing in a 451 formation, United were very disjointed with Cole, Pogba and Fryers all playing out of position.Kuszczak made a grea double save around the 20 minute mark to make up for his blunder early on.
Then on 34 minutes, good work by Gibson and Drinkwater on the right hand side made space and a cross into the box was controlled by Cofie who laid it off nicely to Lingard on the edge of the box. The youngster kept his composure and drilled a low shot into the left hand side of the net to level the scores.

The second half opened with Petrucci replacing the innocuous Gibson and United started to get into the game via Drinkwater and Norwood. However, it was hardly end to end stuff with neither keeper having much to do. Keane replaced Cofie on 55 minutes but was again isolated against a strong physical Tranmere defence.
Pogba showed some nice touches, Cole looked tidy as always but there was little to excite the crowd.
