  • We had our best team out last night and still played like a bunch of strangers with brain injuries. The only thing that will fix this is time on the training pitch.

We didn't start our best team. 2nd half was better and we deserved a goal or two, even with we needed a slice of luck from the linesmen.

Yup. This would be my first choice team. Another good alternative would be:

    GK
Maz - De Ligt - Yoro
    Amad - Ugarte - Bruno - Dorgu
    Mainoo - ST - Garnacho

The wing back positions are the key to this entire formation. They both must play well for this formation to look palatable because they are the ones providing all the width.
I would prefer this but I don't see Amorim dropping Dalot. I don't know if it's due to lack of options or because he actually likes him but he seems to be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Having said that, I don't really see the thing Amorim sees with Mainoo being a 10 either.

Being away against a slightly bigger team than Crystal Palace, FCSB or Leicester makes me feel more confident. We usually do better in these games this season. They're also shit.

But we don't usually win two in a row so I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

    The battle of the Shitehawks!

    Spurs will likely edge it.

Would like to see this XI:

    Onana
    Maz 'Arry Yoro
    Dorgu Ugarte Bruno Dalot
    Amad Garnacho
    Zirkzee

Why does everyone keep putting Bruno and Ugarte as a midfield 2.
This will never work, might as well use Ugarte + Cas or Collyer or Kobbie even but definitely not Bruno.
Bruno is not a central midfielder.

Not sure why the caf is so confident Spurs will beat us according to the poll. I know we're not great at the moment but Spurs are in worse form.

It could be an interesting if Spurs decide to go all attack and leave gaps to exploit. It's pretty undeniable that we've played our best football under Amorim against teams that want to attack us (Arsenal, Liverpool, City).

They just need to play with some intensity, not much - some, and get in our faces. Job done.

I’m not prepared to give up on Mainoo as a 10 yet, playing inside Dalot who can’t find a pass did him no good. A tactical shift at half time I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned was Maz and Yoro switching sides so Maz was back on the right. We look so much more dangerous with Amad as a WB.

    I’d go:

    Onana

    Mazraoui
    De Ligt
    Yoro

    Amad
    Dorgu

    Ugarte
    Bruno

    Mainoo
    Garnacho

    Zirkzee

Looks like Spurs are expecting quite a few injuries back which is the main reason for their poor form.

They've already beaten us twice this season

Really surprised by those selecting Dalot. I'm not one of his "haters" but he's been poor lately and was particularly poor against Leicester. Amad and Dorgu at wingback please.

This started after the game against Bucharest in the Europa where he actually played well as a #10. Him and Ugarte in CM is to weak though. Ugarte needs a specific type of profile next to him that neither he or Bruno are.

I think that experiment only worked because we were able to suffocate FCSB and they didn't carry much threat of their own. Our players won't be afforded that same time and space on the ball domestically.

I agree about Mainoo and Ugarte not being a great pairing either, not recently anyway. Mainoo just looks extremely slow at the moment, I don't remember that being the case last season.

Spurs are as bad as Utd when it comes to results in the league, but they’re the joint 3rd highest scoring team in the PL this season, having scored 20 more goals than us, so far.

    2 shit teams.
One scores loads of goals and are at home.
The other is struggling to score any.

    .

With Spurs playing their suicidally high line, we should be starting Hojlund over Zirkzee. Yes, Hojlund is in awful form, but if he can’t feast against Spurs high line then we never will

Depends if he makes the right runs though. Zirkzee should get a start and can drag spurs defence towards him where he can then hold it up and create space for Garnacho. There high line should mean we get plenty of chances in behind them

Considering the squad make up, it seems silly that Amorim doesn't slightly tweak the formation to be 352.

    Onana
    Mazraoui De Ligt Yoro
    Amad Mainoo Ugarte Fernandes Dorgu
    Zirkzee Garnacho

A lot of this will depend on who's available for Tottenham. They've got awful injuries and cant defend and with Son being their only goal danger fit we just need to keep him quiet.

Either way, this is going to be Spursy.
Whoever scores first will lose, 2-1 Utd with Son scoring first before we get a pen and Maguire to win it again.
