Question: when you download torrents what's your average Kb/s?

mine used to be massively fast around 100-200kb (ok well massively fast for my experience) but for the lognest time now it has been capped at about 6kb. MY net is not capped as when I download otherstuff normally it is still the 100-200kb mark

any tech gurus got any explanations for this (btw don't think it's the # of seeds as they are usually in the 000s)

I'm no expert with torrents, but have you changed nothing in your configuration from when it used to be fast? Maybe your ISP is bandwidth limiting torrents? Have you got encryption turned on?

I saw that encryption thing and enabled it in utorrent but it didn't seem to have an effect

the only thing I can think of that changed is I switched to a wireless network (can't remember if that was before or after the speed dropped alot, though)

Ahh, i've pretty much given in to my laziness in regards to torrents. I use Bitlord and used to get some brilliant speeds, but now i have trouble getting anything above a few kbp/s, no matter how many peers and seeds there are.

Are your ports forwarded? Does the green light come up bottom middle in utorrent, or is it yellow?

There is a video for utorrent configuration somewhere, wait a mo!

it is yellow
I'll try configure using the vid
thanks mate

nice one it's still yellow but it's at about 100kb

thanks weaste! :)

you need to port forward if you have a router.

Use a client with dht enabled. What's most important is the site.

if it's a private torrent site like mine, you can get up to the seed-peer ratio of about 100+

I'm getting 1.2 mbps speeds from it.
