He's always really ribbing you. So? Nobody opposes
Ok in my fight against illegal downloading I've been testing a lot of torrents. Use uTorrent and never had any problems with download speed etc. Have not altered my settings but today have seen speed on a download drop from 180kb/s to (after about 40 mins) 2kb/s. Seeds/leeches still about the same 60/51 as when I started which isn't a great ratio but doesn't account for the drop. Am wondering if my ISP has finally cottoned on and is throttling me? But when I run a speedtest am getting my normal download speeds? Any ideas?

Is the port corresponding to uTorrent open?

If it is, try downloading some other torrent with high seeders to leechers ratio (about 1000:1). If that works fine, it is the earlier torrent which is the problem. If that doesn't work fine, and the port is open, then it is the ISP. If that doesn't work fine, and the port isn't open, then it is your system/settings/router.

Yep have tested the port and utorrent says is is open and ok. I am going to test another torrent. If it is the isp can they just slow down the torrent without affecting the speed of general internet use?

ISP are able to monitor downloads and cut download speeds for users they suspect to be downloading illegal torrents, but this happens very rarely, doubt if it's that. Probably a dodgy set of torrents where those horrible criminals are not seeding.

Really? It's that rare? I know it's fairly obvious to them that if someone has a whole lot of tcp/ip connections open for a while then they are involved in peer to peer and some ISPs don't allow peer to peer? If it is that rare that's good to know.

Not really, they do it all the time.

You sure about that?

I may well be wrong, but I was under the impression it's only for a very small minority that download a fecking shed load each month, they look into why they're using so much bandwidth and then cut their download speeds drastically.

A drop in download speed doesn't always have to do with them cutting you down intentionally, can be due to you've used up your monthly allowance if they have a limit.
