Glazer get to a after drink brawl with Shittu, bot
- Opportunist, shoot on sight with superb accuracy, ie. high % of scoring (Ole, Trez)
- nippy dribling, superb balance to make twist and turn possible (Kanoute, Henry )
- Marvellous "linking" capability and sudden pop-up for goals (Sheringham)
- Excellent body-built that allow any Bull-dozing to goals and powerful in air(Vieri, Heskey)
- Ghosting speed, leopard-type acceleration (Owen, Henry)

Anymore to add on ? ...

and then ... WHICH one you think we should go emphasize on in search of our next season's No.9 !!
note : pls. don say ALL unless you can quote an example for it ..

We need a youngster to play alongside RVN. Someone who is capable of growing into one of the worlds best strikers because Manchetser United are all about young players breaking through and becoming great players. Someone like Bobby Zamora, James Beattie, Jermain Defoe or similar.

zamora? please, hes not utd class

If I was to dream, I would say Shevchenko and RVN would be the finest front 2 we would ever see.

Shame we won't get him.

I would've loved to have seen Sheringham play with RVN. Damn shame we sold him, he's been great this season even at Spurs, and I'm sure he'll be able to be good next season too. I would certainly pick a player of his type for us next season. The problem is, are there any who are any good? The best are all old, we've had a great crop in the world in recent times. Rivaldo, Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona, Yorke etc. Who are going to be the next batch, or are we going to see skill replaced with speed? :( I'd love to see Henry in a Red shirt, I think that would be ideal. He's a flair player, has midfield attributes allowing him to link up very well, creates lots of chances for others as well as having awesome speed. He can go past players, has great vision. RVN-Henry would be very complementary and would be the best partnership in the world. He's probably the only player I would swap Beckham for, which if you know what I think about Beckham, says a lot for how highly I rate Henry. But it ain't gonna happen. So, who is available and will be complementary to RVN?

ole ??

Well I would say Ole definitely is one that could partner RVN ... I am not doubting Ole's capability here but merely trying to zoom down the posibility this off-season .. which I am very sure no.9 jersey will be grabbed by someone - can't see it to be a upcoming player .. must be someone FOR NOW insteasd of for the future ... else he will be just like Forlan, getting a high number jersey instead ..

Apart from the obvious. We need 4 top strikers, not two and one for the future. We also need tactical options, so when Yorke goes we need a replacement that can also play the withdrawn striker role.

....agree! its a discrace to OLE that we should be looking for a striker to come in and partner RVN, OlE is more than capable of holding his place as one of a two man strike force !
We should definatly be looking for a youngster as we have with Forlan ! We should have 4 Strikers who are all at differnt stages so direct competition is not a issue OLE and RVN as the senior(makes them sound old LOL)partnership and then Forlan waiting to step in and then another younger player learning from those ahead of him !

We don't want the problem that pool had and still have ... Owen, Hayley sorry heskey fowler and litmanen all should have a starting place they are peaking (if heskey's low curve could be called a peak?) ATM they shipped of Fowler which was the right decision and brought in Baros - a promice for the future who won't mind warming the bench .... but then the idiots got nicola and ruined it this pisses off the current player and the result is poor form all round !
Do we want that ?????????

phew !

Zlatan would be great for us, he's a great talent but I doubt that Ajax will sell him

Isn't he injured Jesper. It seems that everytime I watch Ajax, he's out for some reason or the other. <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

Nope, Koeman has dropped him a few games, that Greek guy Machlas (sp?) has been scoring a lot of goals and he gets to play instead of Zlatan

Yes .. what happen to this guy ? .. he's supposed to be the replacement after RVN left to join us .. and I watched him play before - this lad is lanky but powerful, straight-forward type ... but why didn't he play against Leeds last week ?

Ok guys ... I have to admit that when I started off this topic, I actually already have something in mind... IMO, we will need one with :
Ghosting speed, leopard-type acceleration (Owen, Henry)
Well, I am not saying that our strikers are slow .. but I think none of them can actually be categorised into the above category ... It's not a 100meter sprint yah rite - but when you come to important and tight matches ... you will find that the leopard-type acceleration is very very important in tearing out defences !!! ...
That's what I say we should go for Cisse ... though JJJ raised some doubts that he's ONLY a "speedy left-foot-shooter" and nothing else ..

Anymore recommendation of players in this category ? ... cracking my head but can't think of any ...

p/s : Gigssy used to say that in the OT rank, Coley WAS the one with the fastest sprint for short(10meters) .. that's what I am talking abt ... and have no doubt why he actually ended up scoring so many for us ...

average

This would be a nice line-up: Opta's <a href="http://www.opta.co.uk/optamizer/teamoftheweek.asp?PID=2&CPID=5" target="_blank">team of the week</a> from last weeks champions league round.

Didn't realise just how well some of them played last week, you are right its a great line-up. Wonder if we could buy Puyol?

He has absolutely no reason to leave Real...and it's a shame... :(

Give Ole the number 9 shirt and buy a young promising attacker to fill the shirt number he has at the mo! Problem solved!

Raul would struggle if he moved away from Madrid.
he's good but he isn't that good...take away the fanatical devotion and suddenly he has to prove himself...and I have my doubts.

if i was to have a dream striker at United it would be Vieri. The man is an absolute monster and would be ideally suited to the premiership. I reckon he'd knock in bags of goals and i also think that RVN would become even more efficient alongside a big target man.

That being said I love Ole. the man is class. Its no surprise he's scored so many now he's got the chance to play.

Im glad im not the manager and dont have to make those decisions!

god bless SAF <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

I have seen Cisse's finishing. He doesnt have great finishing yet.He is like a Henry 2 years ago.

It is to some. Those amongst us who are less astute. ;)

He is PSV's top scorer this season

and it doesn't follow that Cisse WILL be what Henry is now in 2 years time.

Does Candela look funny on that pic or what?

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

"When Manchester United revert to 4-4-2 and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is up front you know that they are going to be the hot favourites to win. Despite having the appearance and build of Frodo Baggins this little Norwegian managed to score a couple of headers and hit the target with another shot as the English champions' bunch of fives knocked Nantes out cold. Not a bad way for Ole to spend his birthday. In this form it would be harsh for him to spend much more time on the bench."

Frodo Baggins????

Well ... fast acceleration, leopard-type striker ... What you guys think of below 2 candidates ? ... don laugh ... you might just find any foreign stars too expensive in the summer and Fergie has to live with them :

Christie (how many times he has haunted us ?? )
Philips

Two things that a striker must do. Get themselves in scoring positions and then score. How he does it, it doesn't matter. Sheringham didn't have the speed, but made up for it in other area. Others like Cole were mainly finishers.

For United, I'd like to see a player who can stretch the opposition on our right side by having great speed and dribbling ability. Our leftside is great with Giggs coming through midfield. If I had a choice, personality aside, I'd love to see Figo operate down the right side at OT. That way SAF can play his 4-5-1 like a 4-3-2-1 with Giggs and Figo behind RVN. Not going to happen though.

Character - Displays a child like love for the game, despite being under the prying eyes of the world stage. Makes those around him better, and has the ability to overcome adversity after a crippling injury and still out score every other world class striker in Europe -Ruud Van Nistelrooy. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" /> <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Zlatan? Have you ever seen him play? He may be good in a few years time, but he is not even good enough for the Dutch Eredivisie at the moment...

Zlatan (why do they refer to him by his first name ??) seems to be somewhat of a taltented Donkey from what I've seen of him thus far. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

How about Del piero, he would create even more chances for RVN (maybe 50 in a season). Could be deadly, i mean really deadly. It's all very well having blistering pace but if you can't do feck all when the ball is played to feet, then they will not really fit into uniteds game.

I'd love to see Del Piero here. 10x better than PDC and perfect to play in the hole. DP-RVN would score 70 goals a season.

Juve will never sell Del Piero and he has the highest salary in the world. And yet the PLC cant give Beckham a bonus of his own image rights.
