It is the last Call of Duty game that I will ever buy. Not because I think it's shite, I have just had enough. I should have quit with MW2.

Just how badly does FIFA trounce Pro Evo in sales these days?

Victory for marketing for me, I think they're both decent games that have as many flaws as the other

The UK I believe is the 3rd largest gaming market in the world behind the USA and Japan, so that argument does not compute.

UK Top ten for last week was:

1 1 JUST DANCE 2 WII UBISOFT UBISOFT
12 2 WII FIT PLUS WII NINTENDO NINTENDO
6 3 FIFA 11 XB360 EA SPORTS ELECTRONIC ARTS
4 4 GRAN TURISMO 5 PS3 SONY COMPUTER ENT. SONY COMPUTER ENT.
2 5 CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS XB360 ACTIVISION ACTIVISION BLIZZARD
3 6 KINECT SPORTS XB360 MICROSOFT MICROSOFT
11 7 FIFA 11 PS3 EA SPORTS ELECTRONIC ARTS
- 8 ART ACADEMY DS NINTENDO NINTENDO
16 9 JUST DANCE WII UBISOFT UBISOFT
10 10 CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS PS3 ACTIVISION ACTIVISION BLIZZARD

And you have to go all the way down to #21 to hit your first PC title in FM11.

Yep, people just don't buy PC games any more.

No Final Fantasy XIII in the PS3 list?

or Monster Hunter 3 for PSP?

Also, surely the best selling game across all formats would be Angry Birds with 50 million+ downloads.

Normally i would be a tad surprised at Final Fantasy not being there but this year had a lot of good action games and FPS's and they always sell very well.

Really? I was told it's the bestselling FF since VII...

Not by a long way. It's sold 5.75m so far, VIII sold 8.5m. X sold 6.5m, VII sold 9.8m, and none of them were multi-platform.

Only higher than IX and XII (which was a great game, so feck you Xander:D )

 We'll agree to disagree on that one Cina, the story just confused the shit out of me and Vaan is the worst protagonist in the series. I liked the hunting though.

The PC games market will always come out badly in these surveys, simply because a significant portion of the sales are digital. Personally, I can't remember the last time I bought retail. I can imagine it would look fairly different even if only Steam released their numbers. But, of course, they don't. And neither do most of the other ones.

On a world wide basis, I'm pretty sure Starcraft II is the top selling game for the PC. And it's probably quite high up there if you take into account all platforms as well.

Really? They used to, they released all their Half Life 2 sales from what I remember, to show how massively it had sold. Maybe that was an exception at the time.

Me either, I have been playing PC games pretty much exclusively all year.

I'm not sure about total sales but I know there are twice as many people playing multiplayer Bad Company 2 on PC than there is on PS3 or 360.

Yeah, it probably was. They simply don't regularly release numbers of their sales. They do release some numbers, but it's more of a publicity "look how well we're doing" thing.

Are you sure they released the full Steam numbers, though? Wikipedia obviously works on varying levels of reliability, but it seems to suggest the 6.5 million sales do not include Steam sales, that it's all retail.

Over 6.5 million copies of Half-Life 2 were sold at retail by December 3, 2008, making it a best selling PC game.[17] This figure does not include the significant number of sales through Steam.[18]

I honestly don't know. I sort of wish Steam and the rest of the big digital distributors would get together and release their numbers, if only for transparency. Right now pretty much all we know is that Valve are filthy rich. Hell, even Blizzard are making a lot of sales digitally now, through their own store.

I love how the Xbox and PS3 charts are the same with just a different exclusive stuck in the middle.

And no surprise Black Ops is at the top.

Exclusives are long dead, its no longer 2001.

Makes far more financial sense to go multiplatform.
