Fire up the blues and twos - Top Gear is back! Our first episode sees the presenters on the hunt for the perfect police pursuit vehicle. We'll be putting their home-made cop cars through their paces, aided and abetted by Inspector Stig of the Yard.

James will be introducing a brand new member of the Top Gear family, before stepping smartly aside so they can make their mark on the show with an incredible feat of daring-do.

If that wasn't enough, Jeremy will be tearing up the track in the freakishly quick Ferrari F430 Scuderia.

Plus, there's a break from the norm as the Reasonably Priced Car welcomes a pair of stars in the contrasting shapes of the Friday Night Project's Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins.

Sunday 22 June, 8pm BBC Two

Can't wait. Great Programme.

Although there is a slight problem if you want to watch the Spain v Italy match. If so, iPlayer it is.

Anyone know who the new person is? (I bet its a dog or something)

I'll hazard a guess that the new presenter will be of the female persuasion.

Oh I remember her.

They did ask her at the time if she was available for work, tongue in cheek but you know what top gear are like so maybe...

Watched this on iplayer - funny but same old stuff really...

That rumour above didn't turn out true though it was someone else.

Spoiler: It was just a "Top Gear Stuntman"

Was dull until the cop car stuff at the end, should have done half the show on that rather than 15 minutes or so.

Yep agree with that, funniest bit of the show.

Clarkson is brilliant though, really funny man.

I think that particular rumour has come about from the little trailer of the series which they showed at the start of the programme. In one of the clips she was shown so may yet make a guest appearance in the next few shows.

Anyone got a link to a decent torrent?

I don't even know what that is...

Can you watch it outside the UK?

I'm not so sure it is available outside of the UK. Its basically an online service that allows you to catch up on any missed shows on the BBC. You can watch the episode just like you would a youtube video or download it but that does come with some catches like licenses and 30 day expiry.

Anyway, a direct link to the Top Gear episode on iPlayer..

Not as good an opening episode as the trek across Africa but the cop car bit did make me laugh out loud.

Sometimes tho, it does sound a bit...rehearsed.

"Sorry, this program is only available in the UK"

Ay, especially when they do the 'news', I know the shows always been scripted, but it did used to seem a bit more off the cuff before

Still, cracking stuff, dunno why people are moaning its more of the same, thats precisely what I want! They've got a good formula, don't piss with it I say

Yep funny stuff as usual it's pretty damn good!

Could brush up on the editing though I could hardly see any of the car in the review, and Hammond's laptime in the Vitara was unbelievably bad editing

Watched it again, less of the crazy action this time but still a great show.

The new Evo looks amazing.

What about the news thing and when he says "I also found this on the internet....and shows a dodgy picture" what is that about or is it a totally random joke nowadays.

There are parts which are definitely scripted without doubt. I wonder whether it was always like this or because it was funny and I just never noticed.

I think the worst show by these lot I've seen that really points it out is the Top Gear does Ground Force for Children in Need. It was scripted all the way through, funny but the shine was taken off.

There are still elements of randomness (well I hope so) like Hammond eating the paper to settle an argument.

I thought the first episode was quite good myself.

It's all scripted, even that bit.

I found it a little ironic that Hammond talked about hating those two smarmy french men, all the while sporting blonde highlights in his hair. He's probably the smuggest, most vain presenter on British TV.

I can't think of any. He has the highlighted hair, those "cool" hippy beads, that affected Clarkson-esque voice. A lot of presenters have some of that in some areas, but Hammond has all of it everywhere. He's the perfect storm of odiousness.

hammond champions the virtues of the 911 against clarkson's distaste for all things porsche.

that enough is good enough for me.

not to mention his miraculous comeback from almost dying in that horrific crash.

The second episode was a bit boring.

It was funny when Jeremy was comparing the traditional Impreza and Evo to United and Chelsea, and the new Impreza and Evo to Chelsea and, well... he burst out laughing, because he couldn't get away with saying Liverpool, and he knew it. So he asked the camera man who else plays in red... they settled on Nottingham Forest :)

It's all scripted, and it always has been scripted. I just worry the scripting is just far more obvious these days, they were much more natural with it during say the news segment, now its so obviously a set piece routine

Wouldn't slag off the show though, its just as great as ever. Some will moan about it being boring, and watching episodes on Dave the formula has barely changed. But that's because it's a winning formula, and I'm glad they haven't fiddled with it too much
