Captain slow going up an Icelandic Mountain on Top Gear..

and the boys are back in town in Entourage tonight..

That's the sort of shit anyone would look forward to.

Aaah, Entourage is back ! I'm considering waiting until the season is over though.. it's such a pain to wait a whole week for the next episode, especially when they are so short as well.

I enjoyed May's trip to the Volcano and all the celebrities taking the new car round the track, but Hammond 'burying' the old car and Clarkson's Robin exploits weren't great.

Good opening ep though.

Seconded.

A lot of people criticise the unserious nature of the programme and that it doesn't provide consumer advice but that is the great thing about it. Examples of escapism are few and far between on British television, a glitzy programme that gives a glamourous portrayal of things in stark contrast to grounded and realist programming. I cannot think of anything, especially non-fictional, that is aired that provides so many laugh out loud moments.

Top Gear is a complete caricature of itself these days. Really don't enjoy watching it anymore.

It's the same as it's always been actually. These things go in cycles - the press and everyone are knocking it now, if it's still going in 5 years time they'll start calling it a national institution and say they love it couldn't live without it. You will too probably.

You might think it's changed but if you go back and watch early seasons you'll see it hasn't changed a bit - exactly the same.

Nah it was about 5 years ago it became a joke.

It was a great program and had about 3 series that were fantastic and then they realised that it was being watched not only by grease monkeys but also by alot of teenagers and women and millions of people that had no real interest in cars other than as a form of transport.

So they looked for the ingrediant that made it this way and found that the "humour" and the challenges and blowing up caravans and such like was what people obviously wanted. Instead of keeping the balance they had they turned it into some light entertainment show which I personally find insulting to my intelligence to watch these days.

A race across Europe, one in a Veyron and two in a plane?

Fantastic idea.

Make us believe that they didn't realise they would have to take such indirect routes in the plane and stopping about 5 times before the whole race ends in a foot race down the BBC studio corridors?

Call me miserable or whatever but thats just daft. If they did this sort of thing once in the series it would be funny but every challenege ends like this and it ruins it fo me.

I agree...

Missed it on Sunday due to the WC final, then forgot to watch the repeat tonight. Isn't it on BBC3 tomorrow or something?

And another thing...when they used to do Star in a reasonably priced car, they would usually have people interested in cars or motoring, talk about their cars etc. Now they just get any old celeb on and talk about their film/book/new series & don't even bother to discuss their car history.

I thought this was a motoring show, not a chat show...
