Yer twistin' my melon man!

Released this week. Anyone getting it?

I reckon i will....it should fill a hole until Ace Combat comes along, anyway.

I played the demo yesterday and it's pretty good. They've added quite a few new features such as take-off & landing, in-flight refueling, AC-130 Gunship missions, UAV piloting and a more realistic precision bombing system. It should be a vast improvement on it's predecessor.

I quite enjoyed the first one though too TBF. I really enjoyed the feel of flying the aircraft in 'OFF' mode....even though the camera in that mode was terrible.

I did like the first one but I hate SP on games I much prefer to play MP and the MP on the first was a let down on the PC edition anyway. People constantly quitting 1 on 1 dogfights etc and hardly anyone ever online.

Looking forward to this one though. I wonder how badly pixilated the ground will be when flying low in this game hehe.

EDIT: 4 player co-op. Epic. Getting this on console now instead of PC for that mode.

lol at the end the guy with the demo tries to shake his hand and gets snubbed.

Yeah, MP was just as bad on PS3. Hopefully it's improved.

It's really very good. The guy in the video says that it's something they have worked on a lot and it shows in-game.

On that demo the take off/landing looks like it is cutscene controlled which would be disappointing. It's not really that much of a new feature if you can't do it yourself.
Well, take-off is pretty much automated....but there isn't much else you need to do than switch on the engine, accelerate and pitch up anyway. Landing and in-flight refueling is much more user controlled.

I think the thing you have to remember is that H.A.W.X is never going to be a combat flight sim such as LO:MAC, Falcon 4 or IL2....and it doesn't try to be TBF....so you just have to take it for what it is, an....ummmm....arcade aerial combat game....or something.

Which compared to Ace Combat, it doesn't do very well.

The sad thing is, Ace Combat had all of these on the PS2 bar online play in 2004. Why has it taken 6 years to even get on par??

Until they make the planes control as well in cockpit mode then that stupid outside hyperflight mode, then they won't get my money. I just hope Namco aren't stupid enough to go down the same route.

It's good. Varied missions, very addictive. yet to see if there's any good on the multiplayer online. Can imagine the coop being good though, missions seem quite well suited for it.

need some advice on this fecking game

i am on the mission where you have to fly into the ventilation shaft and take out the missile

i can destroy it but then i crash - am i supposed to fly into it?? how do you get out of the tunnel

this is seriously melting my head

It takes a few times, but you have to be perfectly lined up - as you can see there are some outdrops on the tunnel, bit frustrating though.

The game is good, just too short. Not enough missions and game is full of bellends online.

God this game is fecking cretinous at times. I'm up to the night time mission with the A10s, and it wants me to protect an electronic warfare plane from a bunch of enemy fighters. When I start from the checkpoint I'm like 15km away from the plane and by the time I get across its already on about 20% health. Apparently I can tell my team mates to shoot the enemies down but the prompt for that menu to open only appears after I'm already there...

Idiotic design
